Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Cost $30 USD at release. Add that to the collection if you don't have a copy. The original Mario All-Stars was great bang for the buck when it was released, too. Still kicking myself for trading it in.
Knack was one of Sony's two launch exclusives. There are other games for kids, like the Lego series. Ratchet and Clank has a PS4 remake coming. Last Guardian is looking child friendly. Plus all of the indie titles out there.

Agreed. I don't get people boasting of owning "both" consoles as if there are only two, and as if you don't get way more diversity from a PS4/Wii U/PC combo or even just a PS4/Wii U combo than a PS4/Xbox combo.
There's also nothing about the hardware being balanced in the developer's comment:

It's not that they're incapable of understanding what a blow it is to learn an iconic figure you grew up on despises you for the color of your skin. It's not that they're incapable of understanding how much it sucks that everything from Real American Hulk Hogan to the NWO era is now tainted beyond enjoyment by that knowledge. MS engaged in a clumsy attempt to hijack a multiplat by cutting a deal for timed exclusivity. SE and MS overvalued TR. All it did was piss off a majority of the fanbase who supported the title, but aren't so fond of it as to go buy an Xbox. This has been a blunder from the moment the backlash forced them to clarify it as a timed exclusive.
