Seven games over the course of six months? Please no Microsoft, it's too much.
It's funny how they can call that a flood but the number of consoles with the RROD is insignificant.
You missed my point. What is accomplished in the Olympics is just as pointless as what you can achieve in a video game. It's an abstract goal which only has meaning in the Olympics.
Stephen Hawking is a freaking genius. I have no idea if he plays any video games but the point I was making is that you don't have to be a world class athlete in order to "ACHIEVE" something.
I should have bought a PS3...
It's simply a difference of valuing physical training over mental training. Of course this guy's going to try to promote his crap over other forms of competition. Is the Olympic Dictator going to tell us that Steven Hawking will never achieve anything because he's not the peak of physical perfection?
To me, being able to jump higher than someone else is as useless an achievement as being able to kick someone's butt in a first person shooter.
Anytime I hear kids talk about good story in a video game, I have to remind myself that this is the generation that believes that Anime is deep.
They forgot to include, "and keeping in spirit with the last 3 Star Wars movies, we decided to upset fans by not including the multi-player experience for 2 of the 3 available consoles."
Hmmm I wonder if Shane "I don't know anything about a motion controller" Kim has anything to say about this.
Seeing as PS3 games are looking just as good as Xbox 360 games I'd say it wasn't a big deal.
Well that documentary certainly does paint a bad picture of the MPAA. :)
I guess it's a matter of what society, in general, feels is appropriate material for children. The MPAA seems to feel that they are society's viewpoint but views do change with time and the MPAA should be changing to reflect that.
Admittedly I have not seen that documentary what are the problems that were shown?
I agree. Just having a feature in a game doesn't guarantee it will be properly implemented.
As a rule, watchdog groups provide protection to the general population. The movie industry has movie ratings and generally people do not have issues with ratings on movies. I don't see why, when it comes to video games, which is simply another form of entertainment, people are so up in arms about having a system for discerning which content is suitable for specific age groups, and enforcing that.
Did you really feel emotionally attached to the character? Would you worry about them or is it simply a wish to finish the game without the character dying?
I could be completely wrong but I think most people are pretty much emotionally detached from the characters in their games and I think it's probably due to the characters in a game not being able to intelligently converse with the you, the person playing the game.
I wouldn't mind seeing a study done on this. ...
The weird thing is that there are very few games that affect me emotionally as can a movie, BioShock included. BioShock's affect on me was the awe of the environment and the interesting story. There was no real emotion though. I didn't feel sad or happy. When I got to the part where Andrew Ryan confronted my character I thought it was a cool twist but I didn't get all choked up.
I don't think that current game AI technology is capable of providing the player with the relationship re...
Although Jack Thompson did go a little bit overboard, I do believe that the game industry does need a watch dog of some sort.
Parents need to be educated and little kids should not be playing mature titles.
Having real time combat with the ability to pause has worked extremely well for BioWare's rpgs. Unless the implementation is screwed up it should work quite well.
I use Vista, I got it with a new PC. It's not horrible, but it is a resource hog. Unfortunately MS forgot who their customer base was. They had hoped to win over the Apple crowd with a flashy OS and ended up abandoning the people who just want a fast utilitarian OS.
I was really hoping that there was going to be an awesome story to go along with the artistic stylings that they chose. Unfortunately all that they've shown so far is some brutal violence.
Sad.
Wow... it's a slow day for news when a web error is a big item...
Well basically the pre-xmas season is when people do all their shopping. So Microsoft wants the games to be fresh in everyone's minds at that point.
