Ben Ben Ben...you still out there trying, Ill give u that.

So lemme get this straight. After years of arguing about how the PS3 was always such a great value to begin with, but for some reason people just didnt buy a whole lot. Now its $100 less and its gonna light the world on fire?

Price cuts are a routine thing in this biz. Ninty and MS are more than ready to do the same some time soon Im sure. And let us not forget the most important factor in all of this. S...

Gee, could all of those articles come from any of Sony's own arrogance and serious missteps this whole generation?

Nah....

EDIT @ Below

Please with the xenophobic BS. In the US, we've been buying Japanese consoles for how long? Isnt the Wii the number one console in America? dont we buy more Toyotas than anything?

I wont argue about some of the American governments more shady actions, Im with you on that. But to actually say most americ...

I fail to see how this is such a "bold" move? Is it not expected that every console has a price drop during its lifecycle?

What was bold was a $500-600 price tag in the first place. All they're doing at this point is what should have been done a long time ago.

Make no mistake, this IS a good thing---for consumers. How it will all play out for Sony is yet to be seen. But to turn around and act like this is some broad stroke of genius from Sony is just mi...

What is with the SDF always playing the victim role? You guys are really starting to look pathetic. There is rarely any actual discussion about ANYTHING around here anymore. All people do is whine and complain.

The piece in question is about the DAMAGE system. Nothing else. Why whine on and on about how this is cool or that is cool but they didnt talk about it, blah blah blah.

Oh no, those big bullies in the media are picking on Sony again, boo-hoo. This is rea...

I can kinda agree with that. But there are far more sensational titles for articles on N4G all the time. Thats definitely a problem here I will agree.

Also sometimes the context in which the article/blog was written changes once its here at N4G.

I personally think a price cut is a great thing for those waiting to get a PS3, or just havent gotten around to it yet. Thats pretty much the only thing I personally am sure of at this point. How well it will all work out...

Im not out to paint some rosy picture of CNET or anyone else. BUt come on, swag bags? Really?

I just dont buy into this whole fabricated collusion of all these companies aligned with MS. Seems to me that the minute there is any negative---scratch that, less than stellar portrayal of the PS3 or a PS3 exclusive game, people in here go nuts with the bias label, or the conspiracy angle. It happened with EDGE, Eurogamer, and IGN or Gamespot when its convenient.

As for...

Yeah I still remember when the Xbox first came out. I was interested in seeing what they were bringing to the table like anyone else. One of the first games I ever saw was at a Virgin Megastore, and it was that Yakuza game (was that what it was called?). Anyway, it had great visuals, but the game was crap.

Fast forward some time, and I was super hooked, and I mean HOOKED, on GTA 3, which I was playing on my bro's PS2. One of my friends was going on and on about Halo, and I wa...

So because MS and Viacom have a deal concerning web advertising, that means that CNET is automatically biased? Is Gamespot as well? Metacritic?

In that same line of thought, Sony must be biased towards MS too, since they have a working relationship concerning PC's.

I really dont know why some of you want to buy into the whole conspiracy stuff, but obviously you do. With a company as ubiquitous as MS is, there's bound to be people they're partnered with. MS is prob...

The article itself is pretty silly, and kinda acknowledges that it is. If you wanna game on a PS3, then thats what you will get. Besides the fact that we are talking about completely different price ranges here. But for maybe a few people out there, it could apply.

Either way though, how is CNET owned by MS exactly? Not only did they compare one Sony product to another (is it just a PS3 bias then?). Its funny that the PC world is VASTLY, and I mean VASTLY populated by Window...

just here to add a comment...lets get those degrees up...lol

but seriously, why do so many of you take all of this to the tits? Its just some guy's prediction. For all the talk of "dooooom" articles, I dont see that being said here.

Again, all it simply says is that it maybe too late for Sony to get that top spot again. Do all of you on here honestly believe that the PS3 will outsell the 360 and/or Wii for the rest of the year? If so, and there is nothi...

You bring up some good points as well...and now Im also thirsty for some sangria...

but I dont know if I exactly know what u mean by this

"...the problem is that some news are from blogs or websites that are not professionally unbiased (let's just quote Kotaku, Eurogamer, VGchartz, Cnet, etc...). "

Im pretty sure you're saying those sites are biased, and again I feel like thats another huge problem at N4G. CNET or Eurogamer has opinion article...

you might be on to something hamsterfist. I definitely feel that one of N4G's bigger problems stems from the fact that people cant always tell what is meant to be more sarcastic or sardonic even from what is straight news.

The approval/disapproval system is definitely not perfect and has been the subject of many a debate. But that is the nature of the site at the heart of it all.

But its of course funny that the blogs or opinion pieces have the most degrees as op...

I think we're gonna have to see what metacritic sez first...lol

I definitely agree on N4G's layout and general navigation. It works very well. The comment interface is also very good, though the whole bubble system is obviously flawed (Ive got three left...for now...lol), since someone who is way too bored and takes things a bit too seriously on here can sabotage you (what up girl?!).

but the whole thing about N4G being balanced, you gotta be kidding me. This has ...

Why they couldnt implement some sort of emulation is beyond me, but either way BFD. This feature is only truly important to a select few, which incidentally probably have a PS2 anyhow.

Im sure it saves sony money by not including it, so they shouldnt. Sure it would be great to have, but didnt you buy a PS3 (or 360) to play next-gen titles?

So many of you on here almost crying because of some guy on forbes.com? The guy didnt call the PS3 a failure, just said the move was maybe a little too late. Which may be true. You are all too busy arguing over whether this is a good value, etc. All of that is part of it, but the bigger question is will this help them move systems at a much faster clip, faster than its rivals? Its very open to debate and not a slam-dunk like so many of you assume it is.

Funny that all of the...

Grasping....at...straws?

It just must be one of the world's greatest mysteries....how does MS keep up such high sales and numbers on LIVE when the system doesnt work?

Or is it the endless and sad hope of some deluded fanboy/girl out there that wants every 360 to just explode?

You decide...

With all the high-fiveing and backslapping going on over what was a very expected move by Sony, I dont follow why people think this is some sort of death blow for Sony.

Obviously, the PS3 will sell more, especially right after the Slim is available, but why that somehow equals a major drop in 360 or Wii sales is beyond me. The other console makers will respond in kind. It seems for many very easy to forget that the Wii and 360 are already profitable at the current price points,...

Even if the attach rates are the same, which they arent, the 360 still has a bigger install base. But there are more numbers to that as well.

I would be willing to bet that like myself, and many others I know, if you own a PS3, there's a good chance you own a 360 too. That Im sure also factors in as well.

Also, Valve uses their own Source engine, which unlike many people here believe, has been completely overhauled through the years. L4D is not gonna set the world...

I dont know if the PS3 Slim is even for real, but if it is I wouldnt expect it to be cheaper. It could be of course, but when you figure that Sony still loses $ on every system sold, its kinda hard to imagine them shrinking that down and making it cheaper at the same time.

But who knows...

People tend to get mad at Gabe Newell and Valve for not wanting to bother with the PS3, and take it as a big F-U to Sony. When actually, its quite the opposite.

We all know Sony's infamous statement that they purposefully made the PS3 a difficult machine. Kuturagi pretty much insisted on it during development with the choices he made.

So Valve, who is really a PC game maker anyhow, looked at it and said the hell with that. I totally understand and completely agree...
