Then how is it that FIFA09 is doing fantastic across all platforms?
Quote - "Really, Gabe's vision is short sighted and narrow."
You're joking right?
Steam was short sighted? His entire speech at DICE was pretty much how powerful a platform it was, how connected to the customers they were.
Digital distribution, having instant access to your customers, knowing exactly what the hardware landscape is, automatic updating, DRM that works - you call that short sighted?
Just today, EA announced that Secu...
Their games have not sold that well, but that doesn't deny the fact that they're trying new and critically well received ideas.
This article is mostly filler bullshit anyway, nothing has actually happened, there's no real analysis to the two paragraph fluff piece. All it is there for, is to draw N4G hits with the headline.
But it also ignores the back end work Rare have done for NXE. That's going to be generating value for them and its not going to factor into NPD ...
If you've played games like Jedi Knight, you'll realise how fun force powers are in death match.
Your powers could easily be levelled up such those in Battlefield, COD4 of KZ2(?).
The focus of BioShock should still be single player, storytelling and exploration. But multiplayer would be a welcome complement.
Doubt it, Sony generally don't do the the exclusive DLC thing, and given David Reeve's recent comments of not just going up to Capcom and ponying up cash, I really doubt it.
Do you really think Sony would be wise to change strategy now? Because that $50mil for 2 GTA episodes looks a tad expensive, when it could have financed a whole bloody studio.
I reckon any exclusive PS3 content would revolve around Home.
Future can't afford to put their eggs in any particular basket, especially in the UK, where I'm sure Imagine Publishing would love to bag an official magazine.
Don't get too hung up on the overinflated Halo 3 score, the same site did give LBP 9.6 and MGS4 9.5. And the same reviewer gave Resistance 2 an 8, so it's definitely heading in the right direction.
I think the guy has been fairly open with the flaws he found in the game though, such as lack of variety and lac...

Seriously, what the heck is wrong with you? You've had absolutely nothing to back up any of your claims, and are making more assumptions and guesses, giving flat out erroneous responses than anyone I've seen.
Here's the demo comparison - http://www.the-horror.com/i...
Look for yourself, and actually look, instead of just blindly claiming "PS3 - power of the blu-ray"...
Dead Space runs out of ideas fast. I got bored about 2/3rds through the game, when I was just doing the same old freeze, chop limbs drill.
It's really well put together, but if 2/3rds in, the only new idea you come up with, is zombies which are fast, then I just can't be bothered.
Multiple weapons on the PSX? No, that's not the point. The point was that Halo purposely limited your weaponry, forcing you to make tactical choices. The needler is very different to the assault rifle, in the way that an MP5 and a UMP isn't. It wasn't just about damage/second or damage/shot. I've not played Alien Trilogy, but if that was your first game you recollect having "multiple weapons" then you came to the party pretty late.
Grenade / Melee - No, the point w...
Of course times have changed.
We've just dived headfirst into a recession, and 2008's highest grossing title was a set of bathroom scales.
What did you guys expect? Nintendo have clearly shown that non-gamers are where the money is to be made. Given Microsoft's clearly embarrassing show of titles such as You're in the Movies, Lips and Scene It, it was obvious they were going to target Nintendo's market. (even though, like Sony, they keep on claiming they don't compete with Nintendo)
The people calling it "desperate" are idiots. This is Microsoft using new ways to advertise their product at a new market,...
Re: Jager
Obvious answer - you take PC.
This is Unreal Engine 3, if you can run the original Bioshock OK, you can run Bioshock 2 OK. You're not going to need some fancy ass, dual GPU system.
Games are cheaper on PC, and with a multiplayer mode, they're sure to release an SDK for the modders to get a hold of.
Only thing I'd be wary of is SecuROM, I hope to god they don't use it. The original Bioshock had a horrible implementation, but thankfully, ...
The amount of sheer ignorance and corrupted memories on this thread are astounding.
Two weapon limit - every FPS before it? No, aside from tactical FPS's such as Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six, mainstream games did not have this in at all. And compared to games like Rainbow Six, the weapon choice was a lot more varied, and threw up a lot more interesting choices than just whether you wanted a louder bang.
Grenade / Melee - I've never played Half-Life on PS2 - what ...
Bullshit, name some PC equivalents.
From your comments, I see you're also a hardcore PC FPS gamer, like myself. However, your comment on how it didn't offer anything new is just false. So is the one regarding it being graphically out of date.
The open environments, which game had that? Tribes? That was online only, and looks worse than Halo. Delta Force? That was just ass and used voxels and had rubbish AI.
The limited weaponry - sure you cou...
I do not think that Halo was the most revolutionary, defining or important FPS of all time. (That has to be Doom, and the bsp. Half-Life would be second on my list)
But to dismiss Halo as not revolutionary, and for "consoles only" shows just a poor grasp of FPS evolution as those who regard it as the single pinnacle of FPS history.
My original post on this thread is of relevance -
It popularised open environments - it may not have been sandbox, but compared to the cold steel corridors of previous games, and combined with the terrific AI - it was a delight. It achieved a clever ...
Where's Rocket Arena? Team Fortress? Desert Combat?
I'm not arguing that the mods featured in the article aren't quality, but the ones I've mentioned have "influenced" more than Natural Selection.
Take Desert Combat, the most popular Battlefield 1942 mod, they get hired by DICE and help produce Battlefield 2 - which takes a lot from the mod.
Take NBA 2K9 for example, that uses Steamworks, yet you can't even buy that game on Steam. It just uses it for the DRM.
Football Manager 2009, Red Orchestra, there are probably others too. There really needs to be some kind of quality rating for sources, N4G needs to allow users to bury poor stories instead of just digging them.
It's not the first time that erroneous info from crappy sources (this article is sourced to a forum post) has been front paged. Sure, it'...
If you're a multiformat publication/website, you do not just compare games to others that have come out on that format.
World of Goo got great reviews, because it's a great game, regardless of format. Even the guys who reviewed it on PC loved it.
Reviewers are right to compare games across platforms, the comparison between Gears/Halo/Killzone have been rightly made. If you were just comparing games to others out for the same system, then the metacritic score curve ...
