"If MS lose OS or Office dominance they are in deep kimchi"

Of course they are, but that's as obvious as saying if someone loses their hearts and lungs, that they're in deep kimchi.

OpenOffice's market share is still nothing in comparison to MS Office. Sure, you might want it, but it's about enterprise users. I don't think the threat will come from OpenOffice, but it'll come from server hosted applications running on internal enterprise systems (ie. an in...

Enabling the possibility of piracy is not piracy. (which is copyright infringement and not theft - but that's a different matter)

BitTorrent can be used for piracy, that technology is stealing right? The internet can be used for piracy, that's stealing too is it?

Free speech enables dissent, we should listen to the Chinese and ban that too.

When do pirates pay for anything? If Slysoft's target market were pirates, then it's a pretty p...

For allowing you to back up video on your hard disk? Let's ban tape recorders shall we? Let's throw Bram Cohen in jail for creating bittorrent next.

Way to absolve the Republicans for most of the blame.

Democrats have only had control of congress since the end of 2006. The sub-prime meltdown, which is the seed of the current recession happening right now hit in 2007.

Which party has historically (and still is) been in favor of unregulated markets? Regulation of the financial markets falls down to the SEC, and the executive branch, and they've been asleep at the wheel.

Leon:
"The Wall Street Journal hasn't been a trustworthy news source for years, mate. Where have you been?"

No, you have absolutely nothing to back up your statement.

The Wall Street Journal is the most widely read, and respected financial paper since time began. What are you going to slag off next, The Economist? The FT? Perhaps you should stick to IGN, 8/10.

Don't ask, Don't tell is one of the most backwards laws around. It effectively posits that homosexuals cannot perform the same acts as hetrosexuals, and enforces personnel to stay in the closet.

I don't flaunt my sexuality (I'm straight), but if the conversation were to turn to girls as it inevitably does on a night out, then I'll join in. A serving gay guy, could not join in, he could not even mention his sexuality or he'd be out of a job. So he'd just have to pretend, and pl...

Given the juvenile nature of the N4G comments, it was unsurprising to see such immature views expressed in regards to sexuality.

"I though it was about games and making friends, friends which you would play games with" - You thought wrong. What has decorating your doll house have to do with "games", what do chat rooms have to do with games then? Because if you're dismissing the creation of social networks, such as unions, you're dismissing everything else Ho...

It's all guess work, and pretty poor guesswork at that. Microsoft might very well use Blu-Ray in their next console. When's that due, 2012?

Blu-Ray is not a proven success, that "[Blu-Ray] is a format that is not needed for gaming" has not been proven wrong given the vast majority of games do not reside on a Blu-Ray disk.

The author of the article mangles HD-DVD and standard DVD, confusing the two. Does anyone really think HD-DVD lost to BD due to techni...

Hell, I thought GTA IV was awesome, which pretty much means I stand alone in the N4G crowd.

Morgan, doesn't the fact that your quote calls it an "old maxim" suggest that he uses that phrase, or something to similar affect all the time? Google it, it's not hard.

Quotes may show you to be well read, but when you fail to catch the context, it's nothing but rote learning. Like the kid reciting the times table without an understanding of multiplication.

No, the Holmes quote does not qualify every conspiracy theory. It does no certify in provable log...

That line is repeated throughout the Holmes series. It refers to specific leads and motives, not the entire infinite probability space in which conspiracies operate. I don't know how you'd apply it to this context.

At no point does Holmes suggest that every single case was a conspiracy by the British government to discredit his detective agency due to their dissatisfaction with his and Watson's relationship. He'd probably dismiss that as impossible though, so maybe you were ...

Every server can be forced offline by hackers.

If your machine is on the internet, it can be killed remotely. I doubt a perfectly secure machine exists anywhere, even if an exploit isn't in the wild, they're just waiting to be found.
