Ignore the asinine headline (it's Kotaku), but I think Solotov is referring to a direct Kojima quote from Edge magazine.

You're looking in the wrong place for digital distribution.
Take a look at the popularity services like iPlayer. All the software going onto your fancy smartphones, all DD.
What percentage of revenues do you think mp3s generated for record companies in the days of dialup? It was less than CD quality and took 20 minutes to download a track, that hasn't stopped it becoming the all encompassing norm though, has it?
Can't you sense the oncoming inevitabili...

A degree in journalism? Did Lester Bangs have a degree in journalism? Do you need a Pulitzer in order to express your opinion?
I actually share your elitism in regards to the media. Critics should be able to articulate their views and bring to light nuances that Joe Sixpack would miss.
But to argue over academic credentials is impotent. The people writing on Variety are PROFESSIONALS (your emphasis), that Variety decided to hire them defines it. Whether or not y...
It's unsurprising to see people claiming this press release as proof of the Microsoft/Media conspiracy, when you go looking for dirt, you're going to find it. When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
That was a distribution agreement to syndicate Variety content on MSN sites. It doesn't even matter that it's a different division of Microsoft, why would that have any standing on a publications editorial stance?

Nothing more, nothing less.
It oozes charm, and I much prefer the faux-European animation style to generic anime conventions, but in the end, it's a puzzle book. Games offer so much scope for interactivity, yet the puzzles are static and do not make much use of the medium.
I liked Professor Layton, because I like good puzzles. But I really can't agree with those awarding this game any more than 8/10.

Thought your comment referred to two distinct technologies rather than a Surface extension.
Still the video was pretty cool, having the projector focus an image onto the paper and not the Surface.
IE was horrendous and Microsoft were sued for it!

I've been using Firefox for years now, the plugins are awesome, neither Opera or Chrome have been able to shake me from it.
I've got IE7 as a back up browser, and have to admit that IE have started to get their act together on the browser front. I can't believe it took them so long to get fro...
Doesn't matter though, they're both fail technologies.
Silverlight will find it hard to pick up any kind of ground given Flash's ubiquity. Even bundling it with Windows by default, and you'll find it hard to shake Flash developers onto your platform.
Surface is nothing but a niche, designed for hotel lobbies and some retail configurations. What will be important is whether Microsoft have got their multi-touch interfaces into shape for Windows 7.
No, we all expected Too Human to be rubbish anyway.
"If it can't output it, it can't handle it."
It can't handle DVD playback either, only, it can after a mod.
Face it, you have no idea if the Wii actually has the capabilities to deliver HD video content. And nor does anyone else.

Obsolete my ass, what does Vista do that XP doesn't for an average home or business user? XP is faster, uses less resources, and has better software/driver support.
The only benefit I would gain, is to make use of some shiny DirectX 10 effects that my card can do.
I have not installed Vista on my laptop either, because it adds nothing that I want, and will shorten my battery life. Note that I have a fr...
The bulk of OS sales are to OEMs and enterprise licenses. Trying to buy a laptop/system without Windows installed is a b*tch.
Why was there so much trepidation at the dawn of the 21st century regarding the millennium bug? There were stories of how it was going to send planes out of the sky, destroy financial markets, explode your PC...
9 years later, the bug finally hits, and your mp3 player stops working for one day. Catastrophe!
Maybe people would heed your advice about sticking to "gaming consoles" if you stopped posting imaginary losses regarding Vista, Zune and the original Xbox at every opportunity.

If claim that Microsoft are only making a profit on the Arcade model, then you're suggesting that an out of date 60Gb Hard Disk costs 100$ to manufacture.
Even though the Fudzilla article is nothing but speculation (its sources are unnamed, its claims have no backing), it gets one bit right in that you don't kill off profitable divisions.
The entertainment division is profitable right now, forget the previous l...
17% is a crazy figure to pull out. Compare MS with companies that are actively in the mire.
Yahoo only laid off 10% of their work force after the Jerry Yang's pathetic negotiations with Microsoft.
HP/EDS announced a 7.5% reduction which is to take place over 2 or 3 years after the takeover.
EA after yet another quarter of losses announced a 6% reduction (but this has since increased)
Microsoft have got bundles of cash in reserve still, it m...
