WOW! They def addressed any issues the last one had regarding mood/atmosphere. The envirnmental/wind effects in particualr really sell it for me.
If you're waiting around for a bunch of exclisives your gonna be waiting for a long time. LOL
For anyone not paying attention, Microsoft is following the Nintendo business model now; meaning you will not see a bunch of original hardcore IP's from them (only Sony has the desire and developer muscle to do this).
Instead they will continue to recycle their few known franchises over and over(Gears, Halo, Forza, Fable every alternating year) the same w...
As if the choices were random. LOL
Infamous- the original has prob all but stopped selling at retail and has a sequel comming up in just a few months. This is good marketing for that dev.
Wipeout- same with infamous, pretty sure the download sales of this game are minimal too. Wouldn't be a stretch to imagine this as a marketing tool for a new wipeout game (E3?)
Little Big Planet- like the others, sales of the first game are little ...
WOW!
Also Sony supported PS2 software development for a long time. Nintendo wont.
IMO best game of last gen, with maybe the exception of RE4.
Not to sound negative, but Nintendo will not support both systems at the same time, at least not with software.
Look at the history of how they handle the switch from one home system to the next and you'll know this is just pr talk. They have to say this so people keep buying the wii untill the wii2 comes out.
Nintendo have always dropped their last gen software dev when their new system comes out,(usually well before the new machine comes out!) Wou...
Been thinking a lot about what a screen based controller might mean for Nintendo's next system, and here's an idea no one seems to have thought of.
If the controllers for Wii 2 each have their own screens, as well as motion control type features like gyros and environment tracking cameras, then the systems surprise feature may very well be some sort of a shared augmented reality game play.
Image 2-4 people sitting across/around each other in a ...

A system like this totally fits Nintendo's DNA. It would offer an extremely unique and exciting gaming experience which is focused on a local very social multiplayer experience, and it's something the competition would have ...
The experiences offered by this type of interface would be the ultimate in local social gaming!!!!!
It would bring the gaming experience away from the living room TV; something Nintendo has taked about wanting to do for sometime (no worries about the market penetration of hd tvs or 3d tvs or any of that, technically games like this wouldn't even need a tv at all!!!).
Most important thing about this type of system is the fact that it could be done wit...

Here's a thought. The design of the system's controller, where each controller has it's own screen, equals social augmented reality experience!
Think about it, each screen can render a differnt view of the same playing field for each user; it's the ultimate shared/social gaming experience! And it has the potential to either use the TV, or to completely move the experience away from the tv; something Nintendo has talked about doing for ages.

I got $5 on a new Kid Icarus game.
Looks great!!!
Even though these numbers are specualtive, at the end of the day active install base is a more important figure than actual install base.
Estimated active devices acts as a sort an overall health report for the system, a barometer for potential software sales and services, etc.
What no one mentions is that because the numbers are so close between PS3 and 360 minor differnces are not really an issue. As long as both PS3 and 360 maintain healthy software ...
So let me get this straight, using it's main selling feature causes nausea and headaches in random people, you should only play it 30 minutes with 3D on, and it isn't recommended for anyone 7 and under. Plus we have no long term studies showing its effects on the eyes. LOL
Hell, even if these people represent a statisticly insignificant number, bad word of mouth and/or something like a health scare could kill the system dead. Moms have been going on about games ruin...
While I respect Dave's opinion from a technical level, I also think he's ignoring the obvious.
The increase in quality of facial animation in Rockstar's method more than offsets the benefits of quantic's method. IMO the human face is much more important as a tool for conveying emotions than anything else, and for story based games I think the facial animation gives you the most bang for your buck.
Also, as far as script writing goes, I ha...
Kind of figued we'd eventually get PSP/PS2 emulators for PS3, but these HD PS2 and PSP games really take it another level. Plus they're are a way better business model for Sony and all the software publishers/developers.
First off, it's worth noting that this further boosts Sony's already amazing library of ps3 exclusives, which is a win for the system as a whole.
But equally important is the fact that developers/Sony get a revenue stream ...
