Haha.
Wait. You were kidding, right?
I personally didn't find anything wrong with this article other than the clickbait title. The guy obviously has complaints about the demo, and that's fine. So what? He shouldn't be discredited for it. The purpose of playing a demo is to form an opinion about the game. While a demo isn't always an accurate representation of the final product, his concerns are valid.
Meanwhile, if you want to earn the fight money that will unlock those characters in the future, you have to be connected online. So you're basically still paying for them (electricity, cable internet, PS+). Sure, you could just play Story Mode a bunch of times without actually playing online, but that would get extremely boring, and we still don't even know how much a single DLC character is going to cost in fight money.
I spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours in the arcade playing SF, MK and KI. Back in those days, people weren't so quick to talk trash because there was no screen to hide behind. You let your skills do the talking. You watched the good players play for a little while before deciding to put your quarter up to challenge them. Nobody even thought about quitting in the middle of a match at the risk of looking like a chump. Playing online is EXACTLY the opposite.
And Capcom was doing so well as of late.
When SFV was announced, I was excited about the new business model, where you could unlock DLC characters with in-game currency that you could actually earn. I was expecting a content-rich game at launch, though. Releasing it in this state seems like a ploy to overwhelm players into buying -- not earning -- DLC. The other negatives this review touches on are a real turn-off for me, too. As a casual SF fan, even I'm scratching my he...
"The good news however, is that this story mode serves as a prologue to the upcoming free Cinematic story mode which will be released in June."
"When has a fight 'em up ever had a good story?"
Apparently you haven't played Mortal Kombat (2011) and Mortal Kombat X. Both had pretty amazing story modes.
It looks a lot like the Mortal Kombat X box art, which wasn't all that great either. If this is all it takes to make box art now, then someone please hire me. I can easily slap some text over a render in Photoshop.
Expert evaluations? Hah, is that what they call it now? It's not hard to come to the conclusion of whether you like a game or not, and it certainly doesn't mean others will share the same opinions. There's nothing "expert" about a so-called journalist's evaluation of a game -- beta or otherwise.
On topic, crazychris4124 is correct. Remember when video game magazines would cover an unfinished game and call it a 'Preview'? Now, critics slap a r...
The netcode in MKX was pretty much a tweaked version of MK9's, which was also bad. At least they *tried* to fix it in MKX without actually rewriting the entire thing, which would've cut into development time/costs. But that's what this new netcode is -- a rewrite -- and the beta signups opened today. It functions much the same as GGPO and will likely carry over into future NetherRealm games.
It all depends on how well that multiplayer mode is executed. Fortunately for GoldenEye, it was executed very well during a time when there was nothing else like it. Unlike today where there's so many games with multiplayer, it's hard to come up with anything original.
Why even point this out? It seems like you're just trying to flamebait.
I love how my comment got flagged for trolling for simply asking why this clickbait opinion piece got approved and for disagreeing with this guy's opinion. Keep it classy, N4G.
How did this get approved? This guy's opinion is clearly wrong.
What's the point of reviewing a free map besides click bait?
I'm not too concerned with how the graphics will look. What I do want to know, however, is if the cutscenes will be higher than 720p. The PC release was great, but the cutscenes were untouched from the PS3 version.
In any case, I'll be picking this game up for a third time. :D
Battlefront looks good, sounds good and plays good. It just lacks content.
Hatred was actually not too bad if you're a fan of the original Postal. It's a bit over the top, but that's to be expected. Practically every other game has killing, so I don't quite understand the moral dilemma.
Hardline was bleh, but it's not even a blip on my radar for worst games of 2015.
I can't speak for the others.
"The website is just looking for hits."
Welcome to the internet.
Games like Minecraft and Terraria lack a story. What makes them fun is the exploration, building and social aspects of it. I want to be excited for NMS, but my expectations are low because we've yet to see what you can actually do in it besides explore. The main selling point has been on interplantary travel. I want to know what we can actually do on these planets, though. If there's not much to them, then the astronomical amount of planets to discover and explore means nothing. If we...
I know what you mean. I think COD as we knew it is dead. They jumped the shark. Once you jump the shark, you can't un-jump it without technically jumping it again.
Everything is Unreal Tournament now, but UT did it better.
