PAX is not 'part of the industry'. They are an independent community event. They have their own policy and they enforce it. It does not reflect 'the industry' in any way.
It's just for the multiplayer, which will be persistent. The single player will not be sub. based.
I don't understand how people expect to have multiplayer server infrastructure maintained on someone else's dime. Not really how the world works, regardless how much money Notch may or may not have.
Luckily publishers are quickly becoming less important to the industry.
Variable Stiffness Actuators of War?
I think there is little doubt that the progenitor of this mess has a penis.
What the...what?
It's available for $40 on Amazon.ca (via a seller)
First thing that popped into my head was Mirror's Edge: Green Hill Zone.
His name is Hironobu Sakaguchi.
Alternatively pressing the shoulder buttons to simulate clawing your way up a muddy hill in the rain IS a gameplay mechanic. It's just a rather poor one.
That's because the combat has always been so mindless. Wait, wait, wait, counter-kill. Wait, wait, wait, counter-kill.
Stealth in AC games isn't particularly well done either because it's so easy, especially since the gun/crossbow has been involved. Just climb to the top of the nearest roof, aim and fire.
There's a lot of room for improvement in the implementation of both these systems which I feel are the core elements of the game.
Has it yet?
At least two of them disagree with you.
Well Japanese games may suck, by and large, nowadays.
But the only reason we may know that is because they've been shipped.
I was really hoping it would be next-gen. The AC series needs a breather man. It hasn't changed in any meaningful way since AC2.
As much as I enjoyed AC2, I haven't been able to beat Brotherhood or even become engrossed in Revelations. It's simply too tired. There's nothing left they can do with the hardware, so they have remade the same game three times just to expand on the story, which hasn't seen anywhere near three games worth of exposition.

As someone who owns hundreds of games and has never played Call of Duty, I am obliged to say "No."
That's the Minecraft approach.
"But why on Earth is Cliff so mad about kickstarting a project?"
Um, because he's a walking hard-on?
One thing that is worth noting is that the Double Fine Adventure has (to date)made $1,012,770 in just $15 and $30 donations. So it seems possible to fund a reasonably small game project based solely on user interest without any massively huge pledges from Notch or Steve Dengler or who have you.
Now that said, it's taken almost 50000 backers to manage this. So it seems as though Kickstarter is not the way for a fledgling dev to break out. You're going to need an establ...
How can it be plausibly asserted that Dark Souls would sell more than Demon's Souls simply by existing?
Sony made the same number of sales regardless. The additional two platforms meant more money for the developer which is great and Namco, the publisher (less great, but whatever).
Where does Sony enter into this discussion? They missed another chance to be publicly maligned for constraining players to their platform?
