The ending of Dragon Age Origins didn't stop Dragon Age II. Mass Effect 4 will just star Commander Hawke.
I'm totally with ya and I had actually deleted a comment as such, implicating mental health issues. However it didn't feel right to implicate everybody with mental health issues.
I'll just leave it at us all still being closer to apes, than we'd like to believe, at times.
Hooray for the semi-evolved human brain.
I'm aware that ME2 has no subs. TOR will NEVER break even based on box sales alone. It's simply an impossible task. It would have to be the best selling game of all time by a huge margin. That's what makes SWTOR such a gamble. They must maintain at least a reasonable subscription base for quite a while to break even. Then (and only then) will it be the cash cow they invested in. I don't know what the timeline on that is, but you have to admit that EA is going to be nervous abo...
Mass Effect 2 sold more than 2M in its first week, just on 360 (and with a much shorter and less expensive dev cycle). Just as a footnote.
Regarding how the endgame and retention will play out, it's a wait-and-see kind of situation. I'm sure Bioware and EA will be biting their fingernails for a few months. Meanwhile Blizzard are likely moving forward toward their first moments of doubt regarding WoW since, well, maybe ever.
Very interesting to watch ...
We won't really know until the next WoW expansion. Should be interesting to see what happens then.
I still have a lot of doubts regarding TOR's retention. I have a feeling that Bioware's own formula will work against them in the MMO space. The goal for me in Bioware games is always to see all of the content. So you create a character for each class (and mix the gender up in the process) and play through the multiple story paths. For a single player game, this mean...
Eh, the first half of VIII is quite good. The second half is really terrible.
The first half of XIII is pretty damn bad. The second half is quite good.
Not until Vita supports classics (which I hope will be soon.)
Unfortunately, without Sakaguchi at the helm, the series is probably doomed to wallow in mediocrity.
Final Fantasy is defined by the idioms that characterize Sakaguchi himself. Not to mention his ability to direct his former dream team, something Tanaka was clearly unable to do with Uematsu in FFXIV, for instance or really anyone at SE has been able to do with Tetsuya Nomura.
As an FF Superfan, I would suggest:
A) Play the classics. They'll alway...
Yikes. Way to butcher a classic chip-tune.
Consider your audience Ken.
People who keep spouting the phrase "full remake" are just setting themselves up for a massive disappointment.
Massive.
This is Square Enix showing up late to the HD collection party...with a single game.
How can one possibly be disappointed by DNF? The very concept of disappointment requires some kind of heightened expectation. The only expectation anyone ever had of DNF was that it would be a joke, by some definition. I'd say it lived up to that promise.
His hair is indeed brown.
I notice that in the most recent media, his eyes are no longer shaded black. Maybe it's just the mugshot that shows evidence of a recent facial smackdown.
Not including it fragments the market, meaning that HDDs will never be used in a meaningful way to improve performance, only as storage.
If every system has both an optical drive and an HDD, then every game can stream data from both simultaneously. That's a much more profound impact than the ability to install higher res textures, or whatever.
Just give me Starhawk and I'm good, thanks.
It's not bad. And it's a lot better than it used to be. Still, that's really as much praise as I can give it.
Being "not bad" is often enough to support a free-to-play game by means of quick and continuous player turn around. People come in, give it a try, maybe drop down a few bucks for something, grow tired and move on while new players continue to come on board. A subscription based game requires a solid base of dedicated players. A foundation this g...
Same here. I can't believe they think it's worth paying for. Rather insulting considering the number of high profile releases in the last few months, not the least of which being SWTOR.
Still, if I get the chance, I'll change worlds in a heartbeat in preparation for ever going back. Whatever world I'm currently on, I don't even remember, sucks. That said, it's probably endemic of the game. It takes some massive stubbornness to still be playing FFXIV. ...
So true. In fact, most of them are clearly lying.
You don't announce games until you have something awesome to show of it. It's a lesson that Sony has finally learned in the last few years.
