The 720p stream does look great. I watched a few minutes of it and it was very smooth and clear. When you are watching it on Twitch you have to set the view settings to Source for the best picture. Setting it on High will actually make the stream look noticeably pixelated.
Great work MS.
@Riderz 1080p would be even better for sure. The Kinect camera is 1080p at 30fps but they currently have streaming and capture for uploading restricted to 720p.
It is called "temporal up scaling" and no it does not render in 1920 x 1080 which is what people assume they are getting when you say 1080p.
What it does is render 960 x 1080 and then interlace 960 lines rendered in the previous frame into the displayed frame. Thus it displays in 1920 x 1080 or 1080p but it does not render in 1920 x 1080.
The point being that it only renders half the screen per frame and adds in the other half from the previous fra...
I was seriously unimpressed by the fact that my 10 year old beat this game in about 6 hours. I am normally a real fan of the Lego games. They are really good fun for the younger crowd and the parents too.
I was suspicious of this game when it came out at the same time as the movie but I was hoping that seeing how it was a Lego game their would be a fair amount of gameplay. Basically because it was Lego I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
Sadly I was wron...
They are only rendering half the pixels that they would if the game was running at full 1080p. This is a pretty slick tactic on Sony's part because they know that people do not understand resolution. Most people just assume that 1080p means the best. They don't realize that the resolution is calculated by a grid of pixels.
What Sony's PR boys have done is honestly say we aren't really lying they are laying down 1080 lines of resolution just don't tell ...
I did not know that the file corruption problem was still an issue.
As far as live streaming to Twitch goes they need to get the resolution up to HD quality. 540p is not that great. Archiving to Twitch and uploading your live stream to YouTube need to be added but it needs to be in HD.
Similar to Sony except for the fact that Sony lies on their own behalf rather than pay someone. They get their own employees like Sid Shuman to out and out lie about the resolution on KillZone Shadow SF. News flash every corporation pays youtubers for positive feedback.

I have one question. What games are taking an hour to install? BF4 took me around 5 minutes to be installed enough to play and I just installed The Lego Movie game (only 9 Gigs) and was able to play in 40 seconds.
It is because generally consoles are far more optimized for games and thus the games are already using most of the resources available. There is very little wiggle room left.
With a PC you can try and run a game at max settings and if it runs poorly you have the option to go into your pc settings (general settings not game settings) and turn off some programs that are not required for the game and reduce overheads. You can't do that with a console. The OS has already b...
@DeathOfTheFanBoy I agree, everything seems a snappier.
Yes, TitanFall played more smoothly than any other online game I have ever played period. After they tweaked their settings that thing played smooth as a baby's ass.
As far as the 1080p 60fps goes I assume that you are not a fan of Sony's PSNow then because if MS cannot use its server farms which are ranked the highest in the world for the lowest data loss and error rate and in the top three for size and speed then PSNow will be a still born abomination.
I agree that it is too bad that that mode of gaming seems to be disappearing. Spilt screen MP offline and online for campaign, coop and competitive is a great feature if you have friends over or have a family. I used to love playing Halo MP online and coop campaign with my son via split screen.
It seems that the distancing between people caused by social media and mobile (i.e. people in the same damn house texting each other) has had an effect on games as you see split scre...
OK. Moderators I have a serious question for you. I have on multiple occasions had articles submitted for approval and had them denied due to the fact that they are duplicates. Some were but did not show up as duplicates when I entered them others however were either updates or different takes on the same theme and thus I thought legitimate. Yet every single time they are shot down.
Yet this has to be the 20th or 30th article about MS selling Xbox. Either admit that you ...
Is your TV capable of displaying in 720p? If so you would be better having you picture displayed at that resolution. I received the update last night and the console only supports 1080p and 720p from what I can see in the settings. If your TV has the option to display at 720p or 1080i I would recommend that you change the default setting on your TV to 720p. You will get a better picture than with 1080i IMO. While 720p is a lower resolution all the lines are sent 60 times per second creat...
I would have to concur with your hypothesis.
VR and Kinect are actually perfect for each other. With the Kinect tracking body movements (especially head and arms) it adds another layer of realism to VR. I don't really see how you could really integrate more than upper body movements as you would surely break yourself or something else if you started walking around with a VR headset on though.
While VR to me is a niche of the gaming world and is fairly useless for fast action like FPS gaming as in the PS4 VR setup ...
You know, I posted this article and did not tag it to the PS4/PS3 section even though they are mentioned incidentally in the article just because I did not want to flame bait the PS4 section of the site.
I thought that the comment from the Creator of DayZ, "'Wow! That's interesting. Why don't you tell people that?'" about new features coming to the Xbox One would be of interest to Xbox fans. Unlike a few other posters on this site who just need the ...
I am looking forward to this game. Hopefully they will take the time they need to polish the game.
@nastynapkin I don't know if it is jumping that is stupid it is more to do with how it looks in a third person shooter. Because the animation is always the same it ends up looking unnatural. I do agree that jumping in Halo SP and MP is a pretty important mechanic in that game.
Wow, this author can do basic math. 10% of last gen consoles would equal approximately 27 million new gen consoles.
Must be a slow news day.
OMG. News flash spy agencies that spy.
Seriously though what does MS having put a stop to this have to do with the article? It occurred between 2008 and 2010. Stop trolling.
I have some real news for you. No matter what governments say or laws they pass they are going to spy on you. The best that you can hope for is to catch them doing something that is illegal and then have a large organization like the ACLU or it's equivalent sue to make more law...
I have had the code for some time and have windows 8.1 but have held off as I wanted to experience it on Xbox One. I will have to try this tonight.
This has to be the most creative freedom ever given to gamers. I will be really interested in what my kids do with it.
