The problem with this article is that it's not really talking about second screen/companion app functionality because Vita becomes your PS4 through streaming whereas the PS App/Smartglass do not as they just add more functionality to the content you're currently using. Can't really make a complete comparison yet as we have yet to see Smartglass for XB1 really in action apart from at E3 with DR3. Personally don't care for second screen stuff but an app that tides in with the console to download stuff on the go and such is great.

Consoles don't need it. It's made for PC specifically. Consoles already have low level style APIs. PS4 - GNM, Xbox one - Mono.
Why would they do that? Its coming to PC aswell so it means something likely happened if not why would they not have XB1 in mind condsidering it's new indie policies.

Impressive but i don't see it helping motion gaming with kinect and its lack of buttons IMO... It will be great for natural interaction with XB1's UI as said in the video and video chat/streaming and dance and fitness stuff... But it's still and will always be a hard sell for gaming to me.
Rightly so as their bigger case/external psu allows so but I find it funny not too long and sometimes recently they kept on saying "Specs don't matter" but obviously they do to some degree or they would be content on what they have now and wouldn't need upclocks.

That's very true at the end of the day. It's the exclusive experiences that matter but a question has to be asked how long will those last on the XB1? I look at my X360 over the past 3+ years I have owned it and what new experiences is there to be had apart from the 3 franchises (Halo, Gears & Forza). None from MS iirc. I look at PS3 and am jealous. They have gotten/getting Journey, Rain, The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Puppeteer, Dragon's Crown, probably missing some more ...
