There used to be an exploit on the Wii that allowed people to get free Netflix trials indefinitely.
I agree with the criticism of Dark Souls and am appalled by the article's defense of shallow storytelling in video games.
The article defends games that lack stories by saying that they're not supposed to or that "gaming is its own reward." I think that there are a few games out there that have proven you can have a good game that tells a good story.
Dark Souls is a brutal game that is supposed to teach you how to play. It's like Demon...
They have plenty of studios. Too many of them are working on Kinect games.
There are games on the Original Xbox worth remaking, but Microsoft probably doesn't own the licenses to any of them.
I'm taking about Kotor 1 and 2 (if they can repair the damage), and Jade Empire. Two of these games were developed by Bioware, so the licenses probably belong to either EA or Lucasarts.
There's also Halo 2.
No. It doesn't make any business sense to reduce the cost when customers are used to paying the 60 dollars.
They would never do that.
It's one of the reasons why gas prices consistently rise and stabilize. You'll never see gasoline go down to $1.50 a gallon ever again even if they managed to find a million more oil deposits and replicate the conditions that existed in the 1990s. We're comfortable paying $3.70, so gas prices will at most dro...
Demos have initially turned me off to some of the better games I've played.
Dead Space's demo was complete crap, so I decided not to buy the game. Two years later I purchased it because it was on sale. One of the best games I've played.
Conversely, the CoD World at War demo was very fun for me. I played the game at a friend's house (I don't buy COD games), and I hated it.
If you're gonna put out a demo, you have t...

@silent negotiator
It's true, they did use bullshot videos when they introduced Reach.
This is what Reach looked like in the premiere trailer. The very first thing to notice is the difference in quality between the helmet visors in the premier trailer and the final build. You'll see a very big drop in sheen and texture resolution. Notice the face models are really well done in the premiere trailer (and different from the final build), the lighting ...
I'm not liking some of the stuff I'm hearing.
1) Automatic respawn is too much like COD. It increases the pace of the game and shortens the duration. I don't like this because it makes Halo feel like something else.
2) Armor abilities unbalance the game and are irritating. If it's a matter of giving people options, just come up with more weapons while retaining the weapons we love from past titles, like the Mauler and Spike Grenades.
Killzone 1 was a tech demo compared to Halo. It was basically unplayable.
PS3's devkit didn't automatically spread the work among the 6 SPUs.
360's devkit had a compiler that did.
We can stretch the blame even further.
If Lucasarts and Terminal Reality decided to make a Star Wars Kinect game because of some fat paycheck Microsoft offered them, who do we blame?
We blame Microsoft and Lucasarts and Terminal Reality.
Is that all, though?
Why didn't Sony, who has a more accurate peripheral called MOVE, which would be perfectly appropriate for lightsaber combat, make an effort to secure a deal with Luca...
So then why did Lucasarts choose to work with Kinect instead of Move?
Any way you spin it, you have to blame Lucasarts and not Microsoft.
Even if Microsoft offered a large paycheck, it was Lucasarts who accepted it.
Yup, it's going to look terrible after a week of using it.
"I love how all these PC guys assume everyone has a gaming rig with the exact same specs and can max out all these games."
Don't you have a job? You said you've spent more than 900 dollars on 360 and 360-related games and accessories. And that was a year ago, so who knows how much money you've spent.
Considering you probably have a 500 dollar computer, as they don't get much cheaper, do the math, you could have had a PC that would ...
That's a strange explanation. CCP is neglecting their PC audience by not releasing the game on PC and you're making this very strange assumption that all of CCP's fans must have PS3s as well so it's not a big deal, they just have to plug in their keyboards and mice?
By that logic, Microsoft has never screwed over the PC gaming community because it is assumed they all had 360s as well.
It's 37.95 USD on Amazon and 51.95 USD on Newegg. I wouldn't say MS is "raping" anyone on the price. It's about the same everywhere.
Yes, but it does make sense from a business standpoint. Sure, the CoD fans will go back to CoD, but how many of them will buy the CoD ripoff before doing so?
You spelled "grammar" and "speech" incorrectly.
Edit: Damn. Beaten.
I was criticizing the author for defending video games in general that have bad stories.
I haven't played Dark Souls.
In the article the writer uses the criticism of Dark Souls as a jumping off point to defend games for not being as in-depth as literature like "War and Peace." I think it's a terrible idea to defend video games in that regard. The criticism is valid. No one is asking for video games to tell a completely original story,...
