I consider COD to be a twitch shooter. I'm glad Halo doesn't require lighting fast reaction.

"MS doesn't have enough characters to do a SB like fighter"

Neither does Sony. That's why Battle Royale is going to feature third party characters, because a Sony only roster wouldn't hold up. I mean, Parappa the Rapper? Fat Princess? Come on.

But, yeah, in comparison to Sony and Nintendo, Microsoft hasn't invested in very many iconic characters save for Master Chief and perhaps the guys from Gears of War. If they reached deep i...

I know, dude. What I'm arguing against is the way they introduced the game. As I said in the previous post, stop flashing the visuals and really tell me what the game is about.

My other comment about dumbasses copying each other only tangentially applies to this studio. Rather than showing us what the game is about, they give us a teaser that does nothing more than demonstrate the visuals of their game.

Additionally, I'm not too optimistic about ...

The best way to argue in favor of the game is to acknowledge an issue that someone may have with it and then spend the rest of the discussion explaining why the game is awesome despite the flaw. IGN isn't selling it short at all.

The "studio" that made this trailer and the engine is a two-man team working out of a small space (possibly an apartment, from the photos on the blog site).

It's impressive but what does it put forth to the industry?

"Hey, we can make graphically impressive trailers, too."

Where's the story? Who are the characters? What is your game going to do that others won't? What is your game engine going to do that oth...

Blasto is one of those characters that feels iconic to me, but according to wikipedia the game only achieved modest success.

True Ogre

or

Yoshimitsu

I think it was Tekken 2 where Yoshimitsu emits a very fantastic, creepy sound during one of his attacks.

"lol ps3 fans"

Ask the PS3 fans what they think of me.

If they announce it with an upgraded engine (beyond the one used for Skyrim) and for next gen, that would pretty sweet.

Ah, but it does shape the future reputation of the series, which is obviously something they don't care about.

No, I'm not. You could say I was being melodramatic if I said I cried during the end of MGS4 or Heavy Rain or if I said my jaw dropped while watching a trailer for something or if I said I wet my pants. That would be melodramatic. The word you're looking for is "cynical." I was being cynical.

Tutorials insult the intelligence of the person playing the game.

And the worst tutorial is the kind that acts as the first chapter of the game, where it's disguised as being a training run or something. Examples include Call of Duty 4 and Halo 1, 2, and 3, where the player must undergo a tutorial to adjust the controller sensitivity (such a waste of time). It also happens in Fallout 3, where you have to shoot roaches as a kid in order to learn how VATS works. They add...

Boring. I'm getting tired of these tightly controlled shooters. Or shooters in general. How many times do publishers expect players to want this sort of Black OP/ Espionage / Tom Clancy Spy Thriller / Special Squad / Stealth Counter-terrorist game.

Where are my damn wizards.

Developers are so worried about giving the new batch of middle school tween gamers the same game they gave us, that they forget we're still here. And we outnumber the new guys...

SSB did a lot to differentiate itself from Powerstone, and looks and plays virtually nothing like Powerstone.

Gameloft is known for blatantly copying other franchises to make mobile games.

And for a while, they've been let off the hook because their games aren't bad and the mobile market is in need of console-like games.

But this is different. The PS3 is a console, and Gameloft has no business ripping off SSB because a console platfo...

The editors at IGN called it a "clone" and they've had more hands-on interaction with the game. They said it was fun, but of course, that's beside the point. Copying a fun game is bound to make your game fun as well.

I'm not saying the game won't be fun, but as of right now, it doesn't even look like it takes advantage of the PS3, and the roster of characters released so far is not very impressive save for Kratos and Sweet Tooth.

Shouldn't a major company like Sony be held to a higher standard?

This game is a rip off of SSB.

You can back up against a corner and point fingers all you want, attacking your perceived enemies (Xbox/Halo fans, I gather?) but that doesn't make you seem any more intelligent.

If you want a different perspective of this game (how other people feel about it), step out of the N4G bubble and head over to Neogaf.

Here's a quote from a user that I thought made a fair point.

" dont see anyone complaining that the new tomb raider is heavily borrowing elements from uncharted. Or the fact that dante's inferno was inspired by god of war its how industries work."

"Forza was never crucified for ripping off GT."

What? WHAT!? All of those games have been heavily criticized on this site, no less, for copying elements from precursor games.

Wow. The level of cognitive dissonance is amazing.
