Continuous Play is pretty good peace of mind if you're in the UK mate. I had my launch PS3 replaced for the same reason you've had replacements, once the warranty of my replacement expired I took out Continuous Play...it's five pounds per month.
I hope I never need to use it but at least I know it's there and a fiver a month isn't much for that guaranteed peace of mind.
I know a few people that have had their PS3 break down, even my own launch console broke down and was replaced but the PS3 stories from people I know are nothing in comparison to the 360 stories I hear from friends and family members.
PS3 isn't unbreakable, it's going to have problems and it's gonna have breakdowns but there's no way it's gotten to the stage the 360 did.
Yeah Sony replaced my out of warranty PS3 free of charge, other than the machine breaking down (blu-ray drive wouldn't read any discs) it's hard to find anything to complain about for that one. I've had the replacement almost a year now and it's seen even more use than my original launch PS3...it's running beautifully.
The BBC iPlayer will only work for people in the UK so you're not doing anything wrong.
Yeah, I don't think Gears 2 has maxed out what the 360 is capable of. As better engines are developed for the 360 (seriously, I hope someone creates an engine designed for the 360 and ONLY the 360) and create better tools then it'll be able to do more.
I owned Gears 2 and it did have it's fair share of glitches....I'm sure the 360 is capable of better than that.
Are most of your posts like this? If so, why do you only have 4 bubbles?
Good post, can only agree with you...I said the same thing regarding engines etc. in a previous comment in this article.
Have an agree and a bubble.
Amazingly it isn't a 50GB game. It's using a single layer 25GB disc.
Here's an interview from the end of August where they mention it, end of the 3rd paragraph.

Imagine how much Uncharted goodness you'd get on a 50GB disc!!! The awesomeness is too much to comprehend.
If they're using all the processing power now, it doesn't mean that the graphics the system is capable of can't improve. The hardware works in synergy with the software (game engines) and game engines are always improving and getting better, as are development tools.
Those engines and tools will improve, so will the technical achievements of the game and the hardware. It's simple really...whoever thought the PS2 could come up with something like God of War 2? And that was fairl...
I love hack and slash games and Dante's Inferno is looking like it's going to be really really great. People can say they are ripping of God of War but imo that's a good thing as long as they make a great game...GoW is amazing and I'd love more great games in the same genre!
My games to play list for the rest of this year is just getting better.
Dante's Inferno
Uncharted: Among Thieves
Ratchet & Clank: ACiT
That's just off the top of my ...
Even if it isn't, there's always FF13 coming out over there on December 17th.
PS3 wins, it idn't even a contest lol.
You can use media server programs to stream mkv files and they will transcode it on the fly, allowing you to watch it via your PS3 onto your big screen TV.
This one allows you to do it, I've used it myself - http://ps3mediaserver.blogs...
I think TVersity might do it, PlayOn might do it too but I'm not certain about those two. The one I linked definitely does though.
Did you even read the answer to that exact issue/question?
Here's how you do it.
"The PS3 extended the upsampling capability to audio tracks stored on HDD and storage media with v3.00. Some function on the XMB such as the internet browser and photo gallery outputs with 48KHz only so you need to set audio outputs as 48Khz to enjoy music and net surfing."
Just go into the audio options and set it to 48Khz, problem sorted.
Does anyone actually believe that the release date of one of gaming's biggest ever franchises would be announced only 2.5 weeks before it actually comes out?
I think not.
If the game comes out this year it'll be in December. Hopefully we are told at TGS.
Actually wxer I think the requirement for Platinum is that it sells 500k rather than 1 million, I'm certain I read that somewhere in the past but could be wrong.
Pacific Rift is great fun and the 2 expansion packs they have released so far add a ton of sweet extra content. Definitely one of my favourite racing games to relax with.
Maybe ut'll get to that price in 3 or 4 years but you can be 100% certain it'll be 299 for a good while yet.
They've never officially called any of their slimmed down consoles a "Slim". So it's not surprising they haven't called it the PS3 Slim this time around.
they've already done the 360, like 2 or 3 times actually
