There's nothing lame at all about the PSN.

You can game online for free, the PS Store has a very strong library, there's a good video on demand service.

Oh and there are over 20 million PSN accounts, all of whom can game online for free, not all those LIVE accounts MS talk about are able to actually play online.

Also, the only real reason the majority pay for LIVE is so they can game online...you think people would pay $50 or £40 per year just to be...

If they were differentiating it with something that added real value to that $50 people pay each year then nobody would complain.

The issue here is, because obviously you've missed it is that they have "added" value to their paid service by giving you access to services that cost ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on the following devices: Mac/Macbook, Windows PC, Windows Laptop, Netbooks, Blackberry, iPhone, other assorted mobile phones, PLAYSTATION 3 (via the web browser) and anythin...

inFAMOUS, by a mile.

Also, those screenshots aren't that impressive. The one with the guy on the bike looks pretty good but the others, nothing special.

I'd be more interested to see how good it looks in an actual gameplay video than a screenshot tbh.

If there are any PS3 games that interest you, there is really no reason not to own one now unless you really are broke.

Wipeout HD (and it's Fury expansion pack) and Shatter need to be on there imo. Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty is also a must have.

Going to have to agree with Jaffe here. I don't buy used games. I do sometimes trade games in when I know I'm done with them and will never play it again because new games are expensive but I always always always pick up a new copy of it and 99% of the time I do pay full price rather than only part because of a trade in.

People need to remember he's not saying you shouldn't buy used games, he isn't saying you shouldn't trade games in and he isn't even saying retailers shouldn't s...

Honestly, if Sony manage to add cross game voice chat and cross game invites to the PS3/PSN, it'll be extremely hard for MS to justify the subscription cost for LIVE.

The whole Facebook and Twitter stuff is a joke though, I mean how can you claim to be adding value to a paid service by adding applications that can be used for free on any other platform where those services are available. It's a joke.

It's Linux on a gaming console, the vast vast vast majority of PS3 owners don't even know it existed nvm care that the ability to run it was removed.

Not enough hate in this article. Come on people, imagine HHG had written this headline.

" I’d suggest administering self-assessments to fourteen kite fliers in Biloxi, Mississippi about whether or not they wear socks to bed, and publish the generalizability of the activity’s effects on their ability to see ghosts."

AWESOME! lol

These comparisons these sites do are retarded enough without comparing the quality of a damn demo

If I wanted to use Linux, it'll be on a PC where it belongs.

What are you talking about toward the end of the life cycle is when they normally release the slim?

The PS2 was released in 2000, the PS2 slim was released in 2004, not even halfway into the console's life cycle, a life cycle which is still going fairly strongly.

The PS3 slim is not an act of desperation. The current "fat" model has sold faster in it's first couple of years than the 360 did but Sony still needed a price cut to grow the brand. Cutting the si...

This isn't about the PS3 or the 360 or whatever console.

Regardless of the platform, be it the 360, the PS3 or the PC...as time moves on the technology of their game engines and dev tools get better meaning they can create games that look better and run better and even do more with the hardware.

It's not even so much about the architecture as it is about what I mentioned above and that goes for any gaming platform past, present and future.

power consumption is actually a big reason as to why I am considering trading mine for a slim

6014d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Oh believe me if mine were equipped with BC there's be absolutely no temptation.

I had a launch 60 gig but it had to be replaced and they had no 60 gig's to replace it with :(

I was in GAME today buying Batman: AA and asked the guy if they had many PS3 Slim pre-orders, he said yeah they had a lot and they were trying to get a deposit of £20 from people pre-ordering in order to guarantee them a console.

They are also doing a deal where you can trade in your "old" 60GB or 80GB PS3 and get the Slim half price (£125). I've been tempted to trade my 80GB in...

Multiple discs alone won't push what the hardware is capable of, it's a combination of factors working together that do.

But graphics in games getting better over time is to do with experience of the architecture and most importantly the game engines evolving along with the dev tools.

Technology evolves, improving graphics over time has absolutely nothing to do with marketing.

6014d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

What are you talking about "it's a marketing thing" when it comes to graphics gradually getting better on a console?

It's to do with developers getting more experience with the architecture and their technology i.e. their game engines and dev tools getting better, evolving and becoming more technically capable over time.

The last thing that has anything to do with it is marketing.
