Not sure if this has been said in the comments so far but I would actually encourage people to read the article.
I did and was expecting to read an ignorant report claiming that gaming does what the title of the article suggests. Not so.
The article actually does a DAMN fine job of defending gaming and using the same logical arguments to do so as we have done on this site every time this kind of article comes up.
Very good article indeed.
If the majority of PS3 games had a mandatory install, especially a large one you'd have a fair point and I do see where you're coming from.
The problem is the majority of PS3 games do not require a mandatory install, those games that have the kind of installs you're talking about are in the minority.
People having to upgrade their HDD to play all their games whenever they want is going to happen due to PSN and XBLA games before it does with disc b...
I'll install it tbh, any performance boost is fine by me and as I also play PC games, installs really aren't an issue. Especially optional ones.
You don't have to install GT5, it is optional and it can run the game just fine without the install.
You either did not read the article or you're a troll.
I'm interested in Move for one reason: Games
They have shown that they will support the hardcore gamer with Move by showing Move working well with hardcore games like Socom and Killzone, which is just the start.
They produce more like this then the hardcore and casual alike will be all over Move because we know that Sony is capable of not only delivering hardcore games but casual family games also which they have done plenty of in the past.
How so? Who says he's not deleting a few old PSN games?
Wouldn't have anything to do with your 'point' now would it?
What do you mean Sony dropped the ball? Pretty much every game that has a mandatory install is a 3rd party developed/published game.
Games that run like Killzone 2, Uncharted 1&2 and God of War 3 along with GT5 prove that big technical games don't require a mandatory install.
Mandatory installs being needed are a product of development studios who have not learned how to run their code properly on PS3 and the VAST VAST majority of PS3 games don't ...
We've had custom soundtracks for a long time now. Granted it's not universal but they exist.
TBH though that feature is worthless for many games.
And what do you mean still no Home? Home has been available to everyone for over a year now lol.
As for VidZone, it's constantly expanding the countries it's available in. Law and legislation is the thing standing in it's way.
Looks like this is only for Australia but I'd find it very annoying having my dashboard potentially cluttered with advertisements I don't want there.
I got bored of the original game, it was brilliant for a while but became so ridiculously repetitive it wasn't even funny. Wasn't interested in the 2nd tbh...not too interested in the next one either.
The LBP patch wasn't a quick fix patch either by the way. The game's release was delayed as the retail copies were recalled and new copies of the game pressed which didn't include that song.
Hence why I put the "so far" in there ;)
I lol'd and +bubble'd
What you stated is opinion, which is not necessarily fact.
Not saying I disagree with you, just pointing out that opinion does not = fact.
Absolutely cannot wait for this game.
My most anticipated game of 2011 so far.
Xbox 360 is not the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience.
This can also be achieved on PC.
It's a blow to the Microsoft Exclusive library but it's not like any existing 360 owners are going to suffer, when ME3 is released they'll still get the same experience I'd imagine.
It's first party exclusives in my eyes which differentiate a console too but MS don't have many of those so it's maybe a bit more of...
PSP Go as a piece of hardware is just as good as the regular PSP and it's not intended for everyone, it's for those that want to be a bit more portable and don't want to carry UMD's around.
The faults with the PSP Go are not hardware based at all, it's in the price of the device and with the content, both with the price of it and how much support the digital versions of games get. Paying the same price as a UMD game is pretty stupid.
I th...
It was delayed once, Sony said it would release in Japan in March of 2010.
So yeah one official delay which is fine, it's whatever but what is annoying is when so called "journalists" cite multiple delays of the game.
And yes, it will be awesome!
They're cool but a .gif is never going to look as good as the real thing.
Judgement will be reserved until I see how it actually looks on my TV, which I'm sure will be nice.
Microsoft had better have something incredibly awesome in store for LIVE to justify this.
Oh and by awesome I do not mean adding in functionality for things I can do better and for free on my laptop and in some cases on my mobile phone i.e. facebook, twitter, Last.fm and Sky Player. Also by awesome I do not mean some Kinect centric garbage either.
If they don't have something awesome to justify this then it's just super epic fail from MS.
