However I would think that if a child is old enough to watch and understand CNN, then he/she is old enough to handle video game violence. Children are much more resilient than we give them credit for being. The key here is proper context. They have to have a firm understanding in reality and consequences before playing realistic violent video games. What am I saying, I doubt that most adults have that heh.
Round 1:
FF XIII makes some noises about being the best.
UPitU fails to notice small plastic disc polluting the planet.
Round 2:
FF XIII garners legions of devout followers, all droning on about something or other and buying small idols of the characters to worship er playwith.
UPitU decides to wait it out, it has to be a phase, the children will grow out of it.
Round 3:
10 years pass, people vaguely recall FF XIII but are touting NEW THING XXX...
I switched from PC gaming to console gaming for two reasons. One is I got rid of all Microsoft products from my house and went 100% Linux. The other is that I was sick of buying a new graphics card every year and spending a few hundred bucks on it. I wanted something that would last me 4-5 years a purchase. I really have to wonder if MS is just trying to position the 360 as the new media center pc. In PC land, the annual update is just a given for the gaming rig. If thats your thing, th...
I bought an electric guitar... where's my recording contract? I was promised groupees by the music videos I watched growing up... where's my groupees?!?!
I'm SUING!
*pffft*
Just when I thought the "I want it all and I want it NOW!" sentiment had peaked, I'm proven wrong. Bravo :)
This is essentially an opinion piece. Its not really... "news" per se.
Obviously I'm graphics biased towards the PC, 360, and the PS3. I just don't see the attraction in a Wii. *shrug* As long as Wii owners like them eh?
You can encode and send any information you want over the bluetooth protocol. My Senior design project in college was an infrared connected gamepad that my team and I built back in the late 90's. We could encode nearly anything and send it across the IR beam to the PC in a serial encoded fashion. If we could do it with old stuff over a crappy IR beam, you can do it with bluetooth. I think they are more than likely just coming out with a wireless guitar that will work and they don't want t...
This phone is worthless.
Yup, I buy all of mine (up to I think 13 now). Renting them is just not a great option right now. My local Blockbuster doesn't carry them.
This site is really bad about leg humping when it comes to posting new things. I'm surprised I haven't been asked for an exclusive interview yet LOL!
EVERYTHING is significant in the game. Random bits of morse code you hear in the game ALL means something to the story. Random bits of paper, flyers on the wall, its all in the storyline. The depth behind this game is just astounding. Most of the story doesn't even really get explored in this episode of Resistance. I can't wait for Rise of Man. There are so many mysteries we need answers to :)
Without fimrware 1.6 pushed out yet, these boxes are going to have next to no PS2 backwards compatibility. This could be very bad PR for Sony even though its not Sony's fault in this case.
Things like Mario Paper and such are great and very creative. I'm fine with nonrealistic graphics. The problem I have with these screenshots are the terrible textures and low low polygon counts. You can make things incredibly fanciful and still not have round objects that you can clearly see the boxiness too.
Up the polygon count, up the texture resolution, add in some antialiasing, and then it would be something. I've seen the Wii do much better than this.
Easier than going down to best buy or sorting through Amazon's pages to find out if there's anything worth buying this week. Though I agree it is a bit off topic.
Those graphics don't even look like they are up to God of War II's level, let alone a next gen console. I've not seen the DS but I wonder if it has better graphics than this even! I know the PSP would.
I'll never get the fascination with the Wii. Maybe if your lucky the Wiimissle will break your TV before you see too much of this game. Oh right, that was supposed to be a rumor too. :)
When your harddrive fails and you lose all your movies, I'll be enjoying my nonvolatile medium :) Your going to have to back these up somehow anyway. May as well get the nice packaging with it.
I'm replacing Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and a few of the other really important movies in my collection. The rest of them will stay on regular DVD. My problem is that I can see the artifacting on normal DVDs now on my TV, its so annoying :)
I've only bought two normal DVDs since I got my PS3 in November and they were both from SD TV shows. The other 12 movies I've purchased have all been Blu-Ray.
I'd like the keyboard though
... or graphics... or high def... or sound... or... why are people buying this thing again? :)
There are ZERO female skins in Resistance, zero... I mean cmon. Like I want to be some lumpy, smelly, hairy guy :)
I absolutely HATE the mentality that "Windows sucks, but eh what can you do?" There are other options. I went Microsoft free in 2000 and never looked back. You can still do gaming on your PC using cedega (www.transgaming.org) under linux. I pretty much just switched all my gaming needs to a console at the time though. My PSP and PS3 keep me pretty satisfied in the gaming side of things. As far as productivity I can do anything I want on my linux box that I could do in Windows....
