That’s the whole point which you’re completely missing. The game will never officially release, but at the time has already released. The game is about funding their operations through crowd sourcing and flying ships around. Its a finished game about nothing.

You need to reflect on the history of technology. It’s not what’s best that wins out, it’s what has the highest adoption rate. It doesn’t matter how great your hardware is if the end product doesn’t impress the majority of the people. As it stands, your 12tflop machine looks like outdated technology.
They feel it’s fine because it’s a gaas game. GaaS has a negative connotation to it. Right now it means ship now, maybe fix later.

You should be scared of the model Microsoft is going with where bottom line rules over all, hardcore gamers are second class citizens and growth by market share (not quality) come first. If it proves out then the gaming industry is headed for the dark ages.
All of their games are cross gen games... this is going to be the status quo for at least the next 5 years for them. (2 years of cross gen, minimum 3 years of dev time afterwards)
