*That should read 'bug-out bag'
Thanks Blades, and many thanks N4G.
I will be investing the money wisely into a 'bug-out' filled with all the necessary paraphernalia to survive the impending zombie apocalypse - there's a tonne of wish lists on amazon already compiled.
(I need to stop playing DayZ)
Thanks Guys
Thanks coolbeans. It was actually Bladesfist’s original blog post that prompted me to get serious about playing this mod.
Apologies if this blog post seems a big self-indulgent. I’ve just had so much fun reading about other peoples’ experiences that I wanted to document my own little story for posterity.
NB. I sourced the parts for my budget rig from Tek Syndicate’s video which was recently posted on this site (“How to build a $375 gaming rig”).
If you have the time/money/inclination, I would highly recommend experiencing DayZ first hand. It is, without doubt, the most unique ...
SOCOM was the game that drew me away from PC gaming in 2002. First time playing it, I was blown away by the potential it had unleashed on the console market.
I agree with the sentiment above, however. Some gaming models/genres are best left in the past, to be enjoyed through rose tinted memores. Nostalgia can be a lying bitch.
Doesn't look like we'll be seeing it anytime soon though, as SCE Studio Liverpool (formerly Psygnosis) closed down last week.
End of an era - those guys made some amazing titles...

Would love to see a HD remake of Colony Wars for Vita.
Exactly. I don't even bother commenting on articles heralding the demise of the Vita. I don't wanna up there temp gauge. Best just to ignore.
The PSP back catalogue still excites me; there's always a bargain on PSN and the Vita's second analog stick breathes new life into some classic titles.
Remember that kid, geohot?
He posted the root keys for the PS3 on his website, which caused Sony to remove the OtherOS feature.
The whole saga escalated into some massive pissing contest, culminating in one of the largest black-hat intrusions in history, which put the PSN down for a whole month.
Consoles have so many digital rights attached to them we practically don’t even own the hardware.
Until now I've gamed on all formats except PC.
But the emergence of DayZ has finally prompted me to source the parts required to make my own (budget) gaming rig. The components arrived yeserday, so I'm like a kid at Xmas waiting for the weekend.
PC games like Dayz and Minecraft offer experiences not available on current gen consoles. Persistent world servers, a supportive modding community, and the sheer size and scope of such titles can't be emu...
The ‘boy-meets-girl’ narrative is one of the most overused arcs in modern storytelling, but Ico remains a stand out game of its generation. I would second Coolbeans’ recommendation of playing through the HD remake.

Farming Simulator is my guilty pleasure on the 3DS.
Would love to see a co-op experience for PS3/360.
This is on my list now.
I've turned away from competitive multiplayer lately and enjoy co-op'ing titles like this with friends.
This is a console FPS; console players will vote with their feet if PC players are allowed to bring their KB/Mouse to the party.
CCP need to keep the playing field level, else they may as well just release Dust on PC.
Has anyone else viewed the Star Map from inside Dust?
I can see where my Merc is based and my Eve char is 38 jumps away.
Don't really know what to do with that info currently, but it interests me nonetheless. (",)
EDIT: Just seen that they're planning to add KB/Mouse functionality to Dust - fwiw, I don't think they should.
As a Monster Hunter fan, this look awesome.
+1 for DayZ - the ultimate zombie game.
CastleMiner Z also represents extreme value for money at 80MS points, blending Minecraftian construction with some epic co-op Zombie survival.
I haven't tried Zombies vs Your Mother yet; sounds intriguing (",)
