I figure the game will be done by the time he leaves. Which will give the team in charge nothing to do but patch any bugs. Hopefully someone on the team can take charge and push the game in the right direction.

Most people already have those things. That would be like saying you had to add the cost of a HDTV to that of the consoles. Everyone has them already.
Hell, a low end quad-core processor from 4+ years ago in a regular desktop would be enough to run the game. Just throw in a cheap set of 6-8GB or RAM and a new video card and you can get away with a gaming PC that blows the X1 out of the water for way less than $506.
Indies are included because they are in fact games as well. And some of the best games in recent years have been indie releases. (which is one reason I bought a PS4- they are indie friendly)
I'm betting either Destiny or The Witcher 3 will be the GOTY contenders. And those are multi-plats... so really the question is which developer will release the best game. Not which console.

I was hoping when this tech was announced that it would benefit the consoles since it is meant to boost the performance of lower/underpowered hardware. Since it is an API I do not see why Sony would object to this being used on their system? I would understand that MS would want to block it in favor of their DirectX API as it would be very embarrassing to have a game run better on another companies API on your own hardware.

This was such a good remake. I picked it up on a steam sale for less than $20. I didn't expect to like it nearly as much as I did. I would suggest you play this game. Its fun, funny, and full of Wang! I also suggest you check out Hard Reset. It was really good too.
It matter if you have a choice. And you do. However, I will say that if you are THAT worried by the difference then you should be playing on a PC where the highest native resolutions are available.
Other than that shut up about it and play on the console you choose. If you really cared that much about graphics fidelity you wouldn't have bought the console in the first place.
For your typical style MMO it is pretty good. But I really want a real time combat MMO like Everquest Next to play instead. I've been playing the same beat to death style MMO gameplay since the late 90s. I want something new.
On topic, as I said- its a good game for the standard MMO. It made me with GW2 would release for the PS4.
I'd like a game that takes place during the transition from normal life to life with the plant-zombies. Like maybe 1-2 months in when people kinda have a feeling for what is going on but also people are still struggling to adapt to the new way of life.

I can't speak for anyone else. But I have to agree with this assessment.
I only used my PS3 to play Uncharted 1-3, The Last of Us, and the PSN download version of Final Fantasy Tactics. I played the hell out of my Xbox360. I preferred that system so much that I bought 3 total Xboxs because the first two went bad - after the warranty expired of course!
However this time around I own a PS4 and honestly can't come up with a reason to purchase the Xbox1 ...
