They've already stated that the target is 30. Any improvements in performance would likely go toward image quality.

Baseless argument based on the assumption that all the talent from said studios went to MS. When a studio closes down, everyone is watching and waiting to see whose talents can be utilized, not just the one's in MS' employ. Even if every single one of those people did go to MS (To be clear, that would never happen) what you're left with are people who ran their own studios into the ground. If they have the budget for a PC version, then they have the budget to port to PS4 and the new Xbox. The former has already announced a change to x86 and the latter is rumored to used the same, so the job shouldn't be that complex or expensive. I see no reason for them to not release a next-gen port come this time next year.
I'm guessing that when it's ready to be shown, Valve will announce it on their own terms, just like Rockstar does. I'm still surprised that the Steambox isn't going to make an appearance at E3 and can only guess that the two are related. HL3 as a launch title, perhaps?
I couldn't be bothered to finish the demo either, but I don't think playing with friends will make it much better. To me it isn't even worth renting, much less a purchase.
