Or they just don't like the game or the dev. It's pretty sad that Double Helix can't get the game to run at 1080p. The hardware can handle it, the dev team is either rushed or incompetent. Since this is the same team that made G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, I'm going to assume it's more of the latter.

Nope, just pointing out simple facts since most people are this site are incredibly ignorant when it comes to game development. It's bullshit when people do it to Ryse and it's the same when they do it to Killzone. Unfinished games are just that. I also pointed out that, for a game that hasn't even hit beta, it looks incredible. No other launch game compares, and if they can get the IQ up and steady the framerate, it will be a very impressive launch title.

Yes, I think I remember them saying something to the effect that it will be free for a month. It sounded like they're hoping word of mouth will sell the product after that. This also means that they have a lot of faith in their product, which is always a good sign.

Where does it say anything about less than 1080p resolution?
Also, some things to consider:
1) Most likely an older build.
2) There's still plenty of time for GG to optimize. They're quite good at this by the way. Just look at the progress they've made since E3.
3) They've already mentioned their AA solution wasn't complete.
4) The game still looks better than any other launch title, and that's just the MP mode.

Look, you may be able to compete in the short term (launch looks pretty good for MS), but the last three generations have shown Sony's commitment to releasing quality titles throughout the cycle of their console. No, it's a bad dev team. Just because MS is suddenly paying them to make KI, it doesn't mean Double Helix suddenly became a great dev. They can imitate the KI look and feel, but the can't imitate talent. A fighting game with that art style shouldn't have any problem running 1080P/60.
