@Shin-Zantetsuken
Keep this in mind: the author did play only 40 hours, demo or no demo. I can only imagine just how much content he had to miss while speeding through the campaign in time for his deadline. And again, his "completion" of the game at chapter 14 syncs up with Square's clarification that the game he got was a stripped down preview disc that didn't include the finale. I didn't see anything about the exact size of the world other than the author c...

If XVI turns out to be based on that Luminous tech demo I'll be cool with the wait. I loved the cult-like direction they took summoning.

Gotta go with Irishguy here. I tried holding circle and just got my ass beat by the iron giant. Once I learned how to warp and dodge properly I was doing just fine and having a good time. Holding circle through every fight is a good way to get killed.

Found this little tidbit by the writer of the EDGE article: "It wasn't the final build so may well have been parts excluded!"

https://twitter.com/SimonPa...

EDIT: @Shin-Zantetsuken Agreed that this confusion is making things weird. The author also mentioned that he only played to Chapter 14 in a reported 15 Chapter game, which would explain why the end confus...

@Shin-Zantetsuken It's difficult to say at this early point, though I do notice that the EDGE article doesn't really mention that it has the full game, and only implies this by mentioning a confusing ending. The review has also told us almost nothing we didn't know aside from the "stealth horror" segment that supposedly makes up the second half of the game. The whole preview seems incredibly vague and off.

The most suspicious part is that EDGE made ...

It's still very number and stat based, like most RPGs. The combat itself certainly doesn't feel generic either.

EDGE didn't get the full game, nor did the EDGE reviewer achieve the game's actual ending, as has been explicitly stated by Final Fantasy XV's official twitter.

The "travel back in time" bit isn't a surprise as Tabata has been very clear that something like this was going to h...

"Final Fantasy XV will break this pattern [The Three Faces of Eve], as the cast of that game is all male."

I can't say I agree here. You can find the pattern among the female side characters pretty easily: Iris, Aranea, and Luna.

@Miyamoto

Motomu Toriyama, the director of Final Fantasy XIII, had absolutely nothing to do with the production of Final Fantasy XV outside of a small special thanks in the credits of Kingsglaive. I'm seeing extremely little connection to FFXIII in both gameplay, level design, and theme. At best there's a vestigial connection to Fabula Nova Crystallis. If anything FFXV feels like it's worked hard at being as unlike FFXIII as humanly possible.

Sounds like Square Enix finally figured out just what it has: Dragon Quest for maintaining that classic turn based experience and Final Fantasy for its world famous (and infamous) envelope pushing, with each side dabbling in the other (WoFF and DQ: Builders for example). Things are looking up. Builders alone is incredibly addictive and WoFF was very enjoyable. Can't wait for XV, especially after seeing the fixes done in the Gold version.

Most open since IX at the very least.

It really is an exciting time. Square Enix has been doing it right lately with Dragon Quest Builders and World of FF. Feels like they've learned from their mistakes made in the FFXIII series (thanks in part to the change of CEOs) and are back on track.

I've played every single mainline Final Fantasy (aside from the online games), and a large and expansive world has always been a mainstay of the series, including Final Fantasy XIII, albeit only at the final section of that particular game. There are many aspects of classic Final Fantasy in XV: traditional summons, chocobos, royal politics, crystals, vehicles, tents, minigames, sidequests, themes of camraderie and union in the face of impending doom, the list goes on. The game is even c...

Take a look at the Gold vs Master version comparison video. The hair and other objects have actually gotten some antialiasing thanks to the 2 month delay. Still also have high hopes for the PC version. It'll be a great way to go back to the game if I ever decide to. Expect at least an extra year or two for it according to Square.

He did also clarify that the linearity comes comparatively close to the end, to focus on story impact. Not the first time open world games have done this, so I'm not too concerned. Tabata also pointed out that you will be able to go back to the open world format from the linear segment.

And, like Nomura has said even back in 2008, the game does still seem to be playing like a mutation of the Kingdom Hearts system.

What do you mean "we"? I'd given up on Ubisoft a good while ago. Ubisoft Montpellier seems to be the only decent branch left thanks to Michel Ancel.

As much as they've made on Witcher, CDProjekt will most likely buy their shares back. It'll be worth it in the long run; these guys don't strike me as the types to trip over dollars to pick up dimes.

Of course that could be wishful thinking talking.

That third reason not to buy can also be a reason to buy if you consider limited income. Sure, Witcher 3 is huge, but it never really got boring and provided countless things to do that put real weight behind its pricetag. Its DLC was also so well done it harkened back to expansions of the past. I usually can't stand DLC, but CDProjekt actually gave it a reason to exist. Real and lasting content that greatly added to the experience.

That said the end of Blood and Wi...
