" the narrative of Metal Gear Solid 4 is an inseparable part of the “package experience” that makes it an evolutionary step beyond fare like Halo 3, a first-person shooting game designed to soothe itchy trigger fingers. "

as a competitor platform the otherside would not license nor allow access to development of engines for their platform ^_-

If you quote someone - don't misquote by using them out of context.
He made it plain in his answer that this was a launch issue and is no longer a concern.

Opinions don't change facts. Next time get your facts right before you post your opinion.

I quote:

But unrepentant fans like Ms. Alexander of Kotaku.com argue that, coherent or not, the narrative of Metal Gear Solid 4 is an inseparable part of the “package experience” that makes it an evolutionary step beyond fare like Halo 3, a first-person shooting game designed to soothe itchy trigger fingers.

Metal Gear Solid, Ms. Alexander said, “has the characters and the narrative, the symbolism and the metaphors, and all of the lore that ties it together,” whe...

he says they have already dealt with it - it was a launch issue and that they are beyond that now

Q: Something that Microsoft managed to achieve with the Xbox 360 since launch was the regular roll-out of key titles over time. In comparison the PlayStation 3 hasn't necessarily managed that yet, and while there is now a core of key titles in the market, how important is it for you to keep up the software momentum?

Shuhei Yoshida: Talking about the launch year, the biggest disappointment was that because first party is very important and takes a certain share of titles, as we...

Out of context again... read the damn interview yourself

*why disagree? the fact is that the info is totally uncontextualized and is directly referenced to only the launch window of the PS3 in the interview and Shuhei said that that is now in the past*

as a dev - I never burn down bridges that I may need to cross someday ^_-

I do prefer the more advanced architecture of the PS3 and what I can do with it but since Jobs in our industry are not exactly the most secure in the world. You never know where you might be working in a years time. Better to be familiar with all the major architectures and methods and fairly appraise them rather than be blinded by loyalty to a company that is only loyal to their investors. (this can be s...

read the article that this person misquoted - it does not say what he implies it says.

What the interview said was that when the PS3 launched developers did not take into account the difficulty of translating from naive multiprocessing code to true multiprocessing code for cross platform titles and thus did not assign enough resources and that this situation is now behind Sony.

*before you disagree read the damn article http://www.capcom-unity.com...

Title is very misleading though

You should direct them to the orginal source
http://www.gamesindustry.bi...

Sony did not state that devs weren't working with them...
just that devs were surprised orginally by the fact that it was harder to work with going from 360->PS3 because of incompatible architectures. (reverse is not true though - good code design on...

PSP has always outsold the X360 everywhere (and the Wii for that matter in Japan since launch)

no the initial poster had it right here...
1.5-2 years ago this title might have been right (the interview did not say what the title implied ) but now it's mostly false excepting small developers who have not yet put in the learning time.

just so people know:
Sony does do free help and tech support to those who own dev kits
they offer training with IBM several times a year
they do drop in onsite developmental support if you do get stuck

Sony didn't admit that they didn't have developer support - read the article.. They stated

He added: "We know there's a lot more that we can do, and with the massive growth of the industry we understand that third party publishers have so many choic...
