there is one thing to consider when dealing with a criminal breach like this...

legally they can't comment on ongoing investigations. So the "system has experienced external intrusion" "account info may have been stolen" and "system is down for maintenance" is pretty much all they can say from a legal standpoint and even that has to go by lawyers and law enforcement officials first for clearance to be said.

as per Sony

"External Intrusion into the network"

Sony has disabled the network themselves to affect repairs and upgrades to security

uh... Netflix has never been done... just cancel past the psn sign in. Has been working the entire time.

read the article fully... sounds like sony caught the hack but now has to fix it. Following is a quote. read it and understand what it says.

DON'T WORRY! Everyone's account details and credit card info is safe, as long as you haven't entered it or used it on the PSN over the last couple of days during the downtime.

Even once the PSN website says it's OK to "carry on as usual", please wait at least 2 hours to make sure it's a leg...

You probably have never played any of those games. Many are brilliant but to cerebral for North American run and gunners

"Sure, right after you name 3 sane reasons why you think it is a good thing that companies would rather sue people than release a better product."

all companies want to release a better product but in many cases things like security, licensing etc interfere - also skill some times comes into it (see Ninja Theory)

as a Company the group I work for sues for several reasons

I tend to think that even the modern shooters are not high enough damage....
If you got shot in the arm in RL - you are out....
Body Armor - keeps you alive but not combat worthy in most cases.
I like the Ghost Recon damage model for hits... Poof - DEAD
keeps the run and gunners away and even a luck hit can kill.

That said... HALO has it's own sweet spot and Bungie has hit a homer with it. It may not be perfect for everyone but it's gr...

The way this whole thing has come down has not been good for anyone involved and would have been much better handled internally but both sides decided the media should be involved... I am embarrassed to be in the industry with this stupidity going on.
I have never been sure West and Zampella weren't in secret negotiations with EA. Their new company formed and had a contract to fast not to suspect otherwise. In that case then yes West and Zampella would be in breach of contract ...

EA made many "evil" moves. They have been getting better and have been working on their corporate culture. They are by no means perfect but they are much better then they were 5 years ago.

this was big news 6 years ago.... and was for the next 2 years

playing Socom with it I was probably 30-40% faster in targeting and killing other players who used the sixaxis.... I would tend to think that it's not as bad as you think because of that.

no, not exactly... you are a licensee of media you have paid for. Almost all software and even some videos have Eula's attached that include provisions for licensing and none transferability. If you use said product you automatically have agreed to the license and thus do not own the product. Yes it's stupid, Yes it's crazy, and now... Yes it's enforceable.... Sad Sad Day. I am not one to advocate used selling but it was legal and now it's not which I am against. I would h...

at least Sony out of the lot is selling the 3d movies they have in stores... Go to your best buy and pick em up. I don't understand the idea of platform exclusives on movies in a hardware industry that needs contentto be adopted.
