This is a great article.
Never will be again. We will continue to see minor upgrades and more recent iterations such as the Pro etc. Only way to keep up with exponentially moviving tech.
In a generation of static, yet beautiful, open worlds, this game doesn’t get enough credit for attempting to add dynamic gameplay. TW3 was a great way to kick off the gen, but nothing else has moved the bar at all. BotE did in its own way, but RDR2 will see the first genuine evolution of the open world since TW3 and KC.
Honestly, it was smart to ditch the campaign for Blackout. Why? Because Treyarch can continue to evolve this mode for years to come. And honestly, unless Activision is ready to give us something new and fresh, I really could care less about another Cod campaign.
Nice and f them to put the focus on their 3-4 hr campaign. Though, in a year in which a Bad company campaign would have stood in stark contrast to Cod’s lack of a campaign, I just don’t think this will do much to close the gap.
Love the direction they have taken this series, but the two years off need to be used to move forward, now that they are caught up. RDR2 and CP2077 are pushing open world rpgs ahead w more dynamic gameplay, creating worlds that appear alive, as opposed to backdrops for our amusement. TW3 was a great foundation this gen, but we haven’t seen much since then, outside of Kingdom Come.
I’m surprised no one had made a game in Van Goh’s Style.
Spider-Man was a great foundation to entice others to make games for Sony’s hardware. Definitely something to look into. But I highly doubt it, especially w new gen coming and MS’s willingness to just throw money at every problem.
I don’t mind the dlc. I understand that this game is very profitable for Sony and Insomniac. BUT, give us a reason to wear all these suits. Love the game, combat, story etc., But the endgame is seriously lacking. Id live difficult challenges like Batman has the challenge rooms...
If you haven’t played it, go get it now!!
I am as loyal to a company as they have products I want to buy. It’s that simple. Make what I want for the right price and I’ll be loyal. But it doesn’t mean we are exclusive by any means.
I like to think of it as a next gen launch title overhaul lol!
I liked Origins a lot but felt like this huge world kinda went to waste after you are done. They do such a wonderful job of recreating these ancient wonders and while the games are of good length...it just seems a waste not to set other stories within it.
Part of the reason Athens is so big is b/c if the water. Like Black Flag we will get a lot of that.
I am happy with the quality. And love the length for an rpg, but I think many will bow out too early.
Exactly. Better comparison would be cocaine, as it is probably THE most mentally addictive drug in the planet. Though Meth is right there.
Heroin is sooooo bad because you get physically addicted and cannot function without it. And by not function...imagine being as depressed as you’ve ever been, with the most anxiety you’ve ever endured, add the worst flu you have ever had, cold sweats, hot flashes, mix in restless leg syndrome, and unbelievable constant pain all over; mos...
They will be. I don’t understand this article. This is how it has been forever.
One thing that isn’t mentioned is that now, more than ever, there are so many opportunities for smaller devs to get their games out there, whether it be Steam, IOS, Switch and consoles...
And for those big studios like Rockstar, Bethesda and CDPR, we will get games like 2077 and Starfield.
I HATE this! They took a relatively unknown series of books (not that it was without its fans), and made it a worldwide phenomenon. They have brought so much attention to this IP.
I’d have to read more, but I’m not sure whether he owns any of the IP anymore. If so, get to WORK!!!! You now have a means to money that you never had before. If not, then probably should have been more careful.
CDPR was very good with the source material and gave the world some...
Exactly. Imagine if CDPR had been given right. Omgoooooodness!!!
As long as it appears to be, many may have review copies already. If the review comes out on the 21, that’s only 3 wks away, and another article is talking about 100+ gbs and 1 Blu-ray Discs.
Ubi has become one of the best devs around. Tough to deny these days, despite many rough patches!
I don’t mind waiting 8 years for a game of this quality. But very few can do what Rockstar does. Very few are in the financial situation that they are.
I’d love it if Assasin’s Credd could take 3 or 4 yrs b/w games and just release DLC for the huge open worlds they craft. I wish Bungie had 5 years for Destiny 3. I wish many games had as long as it took. But everyone has shareholders to answer to as well.
