It is true that the ps3 was very close to failure early on. But, the name that may need to b changed is Sony. Its the company that has had serious issues lately. I guess it does do more than "play" but changing the name would b disastrous. MW2 tried to drop CoD and that didn't work and its the most recognizable game in the world.
First off, they may trigger similar chemicals to drugs, but all video games do this, nor simply violent ones. I am sure there are studies being done about video game addiction.
But I imagine that if u take ten kids from many different backgrounds and have them all play the same game for the same amount of time, the determining factors for violence will not b the video game. It will b parenting, bullying, mental issues etc. Millions and millions of kids now play these games. I...
I no longer play obsessively to get these, waking up early, posting online, boosting for days, etc etc. & i don't miss it at all. Its added atleast 5 yrs to my life. Its a neverending journey & i have a friend with 200 platinums. I will never catch up. I still platinum games or get 1000 gamerpoints. I almost have it in skyrim, but i am 250+ hours in. Normally, it wouldst been 80 & i would have missed out on much of one of the best gaming experiences i have ever had. Why? Becau...
Good...very, very good. I am quite excited. I have tempered my expectations. I just want the story to b adequate. After skyrim, I need some type of escalating story to accompany my countless hours of questing.
I paid $699 for my ps3, $850 after a controller, game and insurance. I don't think either will b less than $600 at launch. The Xbox will now have blue ray, a new version of kinnect etc. No way will they b $400 unless that is the strategy to get tons of ppl to make an immediate switch but that generally isn't how it is. First, they milk the hardcore gamers that have to have it, then they milk the holidays, and maybe after the initial year, it will come down. I don't think they will...
And consoles?
Yeah so Ill wait til they are announced before making a decision, mainly because if I buy a PC, I want it to b close to the best I can get for the money I spend, but also to see if Microsoft or Sony have something up their sleeve. Next Gen will b interesting to see if most games are similar accross all platforms. I think their will b a clear winner this time, at least for hard core gamers.
I think the trend will actually move back towards the PC. This is why, once consoles begin selling upwards of $800, they should think about merging with the PC. How many gamers will drop $800+ in two years for a console using the radeon 6000? I know they do things to get more out of it, but how much realistically. I agree that if a new console is coming, it needs to b 20x as powerful, not 6x. Otherwise, its cheaper for me to build a good PC. Its upgradeable, hasn't mods, the games are ge...
Growing up, I was a huge RPG fan. I couldn't afford alot so I bought rpgs and played them for months and months. Final fantasy 7 is my all time favorite. I also remember grinding for a month in order to duplicate knights of the round so i could beat the American monsters on another FF. It was heaven for me. Unfortunately, while this Gen has been great with bioshock, mass effect, fallout etc, it hasn't given me the rpgs that i crave. Yes, i played lost Odyssey and tales etc, but nothin...
It isn't the story that worries me. The American revolution is perfect with the Illuminati, the Masons and templars. I'm not sure how the assassins fit in unless they are trying to help britian maintain superiority and stop the templars/Masons or illuimati from getting up this country.
My problem is the environment. It is vastly different from previous entries. There were few big cities and buildings in which the protagonist would b climbing etc. And it is very spread...
Are the rumored consoles going to b more powerful than high end PC's are today? It does kinda sick that the tech is their but PC gamers have to wait for consoles to catch up so that its mainstream enough for developers to attempt something ground breaking, such as the storied AI.
I'm just wondering, but if next Gen consoles ask $800 for a system w specs that are similar to contemporary PC, why would anyone drop so much on a console. I am seriously considering the swit...
This article speaks for me. The irony is that I fell in love with Sony because of rpgs but bought an xbox360 because this gens rpgs are better on it. I mostly play in ps3, it is where most of my friends are, it has a blue/ray and phenomonal exclusives. But, after fallout 3 i bought new Vegas and skyrim for Xbox. I played lost Odyssey and both mass effects in Xbox, as well as their exclusives. But, everything else is ps3. I'm actually getting kingdoms of amalur for ps3 because i miss it. I...
Please. Do nor ever use money, time, or precious space and $ on 3D. It isn't worth it. It just is not. Does it look cool...sometimes...and that isn't enough. When you can make me feel like bullets are flying past my head or rain is falling all around me, then maybe, but only if it benefits gameplay such as immersion. If its gimmicky or simply changes depth perception as so many do, it isn't worth the trade off. I like the idea of an optional upgrade. It mat not b feasible now but ...
And that's what I'm afraid of. The other possible options would b for one of these companies release a gaming PC. Microsoft could release a PC running windows8 as i believe it is going to b similar to the new Xbox dashboard. It would justify the price, replace ppl s existing computer but include all the benefits of a console. It all gets quite complicated but the future is moving too fast for console life spans and their respective investments. Am i going to shell out $800 + dollars...
I am in RPG heaven. Skyrim, KoA in a week, Mass Effect 3, & then The witcher 2. Oh, and maybe dragon age3 & bioware can learn something from this port if its successful. And if it is difficult, i will b happy. Skyrim has insane difficulty spikes but gives u the option of changing difficulty on the fly. I guess that in a world so big, it has its benefits but i do like selecting a difficulty and dealing w the consequences. I loved the old games that required you to back off and figure o...
I don't know alot about these things but, is it possible to release a console w a relatively cheap gpu to allow minimum or medium settings while also giving hardcore gamers the ability to upgrade the gpu. Lets face it, even if the ps4 buses the best gpu available or coming out in the next yr (the Kepler?), and it was tweeked, how long before the it is outdated? At some point, hardware upgrades must b considered. I know Xbox loves to sell their own accessories. Maybe they hire amd to devel...
Me either. The bugs didn't bother me because there's no way they would release it w some of the bugs I encountered. I guess the PC did look much better which I found strange. Not because it shouldn't but because its art style doesn't seem that it should b too taxing even on these old consoles. I thought the indoors were gorgeous, even on console but the outdoors on both consoles were a little weak. It doesn't affect my experience or excitement but would b a nice bonus if i...
I understand what you are saying. In most mmos u don't mind grinding for hundreds of hours, or raiding for months and months on an update while u wait for a full fledged expansion because its shat u have always done since the beginning. Its no different. But, if biowares endgame content is strong and offers alot of loot etc., then mmo players may actually b excited when the story ends because then the grind can begin. On the flip side, if the story ends at 100+ hours, that's perfect f...
If u r not going to play used games, nix the blue ray and go fully digital. Put the money into graphics and processing power. This way you can undercut the competition with console price. Also, create your own steam or origin. Ppl will love getting a PC experience with the console advantages.
If I'm Sony and c what Xbox is offering with graphics card and blue ray, and their lack of 1st party titles etc, i am waiting for the new blue ray, the 4k Res and witheir first part...
"Not too many games are gonna be bigger...". No games are gonna b bigger than mass effect 3 in early 2012.
