The only downside going back is that it is time consuming and like Souls games best experienced as the community is going through it together.
But I’ve also found that it hits in waves and new ppl come together to help each other through it. An announcement of Nioh 2 might just be a reason that thousands go back or pick it up for the first time.
@madworld I think they did it because of the FPS issue. If so I’d expect some of the demo to be released at some point soon. Imagine if they had just shown it and all the amazing ness was eclipsed by thousands of idiots tweeting about how stupid it is that it’s an FPS. And then 10 minutes later regretting the tweet because the game is astonishing.

Tbh, I think it would be much more difficult. Compare the difficulty of crafting a raid in Destiny to crafting one in Funal fantasy or ESO or whatever. Probably a bad comparison, but you get the point...hopefully lol!
I just think they truly wanted to take on the challenge of full immersion. I wouldn’t be against allowing some type of third person for driving or for seeing your customization options, but as someone who adores Bioshock and Half-life for their immersion, I am beyond excited to see this concept played out in a fully open world rpg in which the quests and story are scripted by the best in the business.

Exactly. They would NOT do this unless they thought it was a good decision. They didn’t do it to make it more like Cod. They are doing it to give us an up close experience with the world they are crafting.
I trust them. And I guarantee this game will be exactly what I think. It will be an amazing rpg in an insanely realized and immersive world, unparalleled story and questing, with great customization.
We view games like half life and Bioshock as classics, some of the best games ever made because of their ability to mix FPS with rpg and world building elements.

Trust me on this. Get and play Nioh. It is unbelievable and my personal GotY for last yr. loved Zelda, Nier etc., but Nioh is a perfect blend of DS/Diablo and Ninja Gaiden!

I trust them 100%, but they had to know that this would be a huge issue for many traditional dog fans. Maybe implementing a camera switch like Skyrim as an option. It’s good to see that MS is righting the ship without abandoning their vision. The idea of abandoning single player games for games of service was nuts! Hopefully next gen we start to see the fruits of their labor pay off. I feel like we lost an entire generation of great games from them.
