A lot of the problem is that we r seeing first hand the development cycle of a game on the scale of WoW, CP2077, etc. Instead of silence for 5 yrs and then a long 18 month wait to release, we are witnessing each and every phase.
Imagine if we saw each step of ES6, which will probably be in production for 6+ yrs by the time it is released.
That and we have to keep in mind that this isn’t Ubisoft or Bethesda with 200+ ppl working 60 hrs a week. Probably jus...
It will be the PS6. You think they can port this over by 2027? It probably won’t release til 2022.
Don’t get me wrong. If and when they pull this off, it will be a damn marvel. But I feel like they need a publisher to come in and put some pressure on them. Normally I wouldn’t say that, but I think when a dev has free reign, often they can’t ever stop dreaming and adding because the tech capabilities r growing faster than the initial vision.
At some point...
At this point, by the time it releases it should just go f2p to everyone. No micros, nothing! Just free for everyone!
Tbh though, I am curious if will just be a $60 game or require a sub, continue to sell ships for $1000 etc. Why ever release this game? Games r meant to make money and this game is making money hand over fist in the state it is in.
I do wonder if the devs will literally start crying on official launch day, get in their new jets and take ...
Wow! Better and better!
I will agree with the localization too. And I love the term retro, or “games I played growing up” lol!
But there is amazing music today also. See Nier from last year. And I don’t really find the new consoles to be all that difficult to mess with if needed. And while dlc has often gotten out of hand. In many occasions, it is an amazing thing! See Prey’s newest dlc, maybe the best dlc to come to gaming in years. Definitely an evolution of the immersive sim that millions adore...
Jared Petty made an argument that RDR2 could catch GTA5 in sales...eventually. I will argue...not a chance. It is the best selling game of all time, and it keeps selling. And the online portion is absurdly profitable. So much so, that despite being the best selling game of all time, the amount made from retail sales of the game pale in comparison to online profits. It’s a damn monster!!!!!
Now, the beautiful thing about RDR2 is that Take Two has the chance to find another ...
This is what Switch needs more of for sure.
Though for the millionth time, it’s also another reason for SOMEONE other than Nintendo to make a handheld that can play their games. I don’t care who it is. If MS or Sony or Google created a handheld that played its games at 720p, and also had the Google Play store, it would be amazing. One stop shop! If Sony did it, they could include Vue and Now.
C’mon. I am dying for this! There are a few mobile games I lov...
Me too!!! I was even disappointed with NNK2. Though the new hard difficulty completely changes everything and adds a ton of complexity to what was a pointless battle system.
Lol
For sure, but I think MS should group Gold with Access for one price.
Rockstar has this luxury lol! It doesn’t have to be a primary concern b-c everything they make takes in money hand over fist. Their shareholders are never pushing for sketchy shit b/c it can only hurt a Rockstar game and it’s image.
I’m hoping they use that solo hub to their advantage narratively. I know it’s hard to make sense of a world in which all your friends share and may be doing different quests that you have finished, but if they are creative enough, it could be really good. Everything else is spot on.
Just a bit apprehensive about replay ability because we know that most mmo’s spend 5 years making content that is run through in 3 weeks. It will depend on rewwarda and progression.
It’s kinda like a bar showing a fight. When they do, they have to pay 1000’s for the fight, while we only pay like $99. Why? Because you are making money off it.
This still doesn’t make sense to me but I guess publishers look at it as though you are providing that game to many who might have bought it.
I love these articles. GTA5 is the best selling game of all time. So it goes without saying that it is unrealistic. It isn’t a modern setting, the IP is much newer. And well, did I mention that’s GTA5 has sold more than any other game in history. And the funny thing is that it’s still Les Loren money from online purchases than retail. Insane!!!!!
I used to chase trophies but now I just use them to enhance gameplay for games I love. I never played games just for the trophies though. Prey is a great example of bad trophies to chase. I finally grabbed it (GO Play it NOW if you live Bioshock or other immersive sims; not to mention it has probably the best dlc to be released in years!!!)
So I fire it up and choose Nightmare difficulty b/c I love the challenge of playing out situations
Perfectly and it has the al...
It’s maxing how the Star Wars IP has taken a dive. Just bring SWtOR to consoles while we wait. Hell, it has hundreds of hours of great story content.
And yeah, very odd how EA has chosen to quash all of these sp SE games. Give us a KotOR3 before we get the next Mass Effect. The Amy Hennig game would have sold really well I believe.
I’m just perplexed that SWtOR hasn’t come to consoles. There’s so much money to be made. It’s perfect and ESO and FF14 habe done very well. It’s even better because it has a aTON of single player content that many who love KotOR would adore.
Uh...it had the Pro and X1X. And now it’s a bonafide AAA mobile game. How entitled are we now?
There is a difference between publishers and devs. Obviously, some devs have target bonuses, and some are publishers also. But most devs just want to make the best game they can writhing given parameters.
It’s a constant tap dance b/w making the game you want and getting it out the door in the right state to maximize profit. Thus, schedules are born. And depending upon management and talent, the product may fall behind schedule. Today, more than any other time, gamers dema...
The first and only mobilize game I’ve ever played is Lineage 2, and it uses auto battling to deal with grinding. Kinda brilliant really b/c it’s perfect for a mobile mmo. The game itself is unbelievably complex for a mobile game also, and gets better each patch. Has great progression etc.
I just worry that any jrpg that bypasses grinding will make the game too easy like NNK2. NNK2 was so damn easy that it literally nullified every system in the game.Inve they added a hard a...
