The PS4K is not a Scorpio rival... Its a new PS4. With slightly upgraded specs. It believe it can be compared to the XB1S, as it's an incremental step 3 years into the generation. Tweaks and added features. The only difference is the power increase this time around.

Both conferences were good. NEW IPs, NEW Sequels, and NEW consoles. No services at all. Great stuff.
I think comparing the 2 may not be relevant. The Scorpion seems like a "new console" from MS, while the P4K is still a PS4, but upgraded specs. It would be great I think if Sony launched the 4K next year with higher that the current rumored specs.

40 million PS4s exists in the wild. Whatever Sony does it will take these people with them. I don't think the Neo will launch this year as Sony is pushing VR. Instead I do think they will match or outdo the Specs of the Scorpio. Either next year or following that. MS isn't losing the "war" due to power differences. They are losing due to not having worldwide appeal and new franchises that appeal to varied and broad audiences.
Sony stated no Updated PS4 talk at E3 before MS revealed anything at E3 or mentioned Scorpio. Andrew House stated as much in an interview when he confirmed a high end PS4's existence.

I'm getting this game. The collectors edition at that. I loved the last 2 games way back on the PS2. It's not about hype or expectations. It's about the connection and emotions that each of the games gave me. They were not perfect nor were they system sellers. For me they were art. I want to support this developer for brining such uniqueness and innovation to gaming
It mattered last gen through... with Greenberg constantly posting 360 hardware and software NPD victories. It also mattered when the Xbox 1 launched... it only doesn't matter when the XB1 is being outsold in both of its strongest markets. Engagement numbers and "xbox family" are just words to mask lower than expected sales. Combining with PC is just another way of doing this. If you believe this nonsense of them not caring then you must be blind. Every company cares about hard...
The behind closed doors demo is very similar to the one showed at the conference. However it shows different play styles, like setting traps and leading the hoard through it. It also displays day and night cycles. The 'zombies' have a disease and are alive... in that they eat, sleep drink etc. They hibernate in the day. No info on the virus and how it's spread though. That's what was behind closed doors. Note that this may be a late 2017 game at best. Looking more like 2018...

Struggle to see how MS's conference was better. They announced a slim which by all accounts is still bigger than the PS4... whoppie an internal power supply... ok then. Welcome to launch year MS. Good price point though. Can't help but think many will just wait to upgrade when the Scorpio hits.

Remember the hate for Neo? Cant help but think that this announcement was a bit too early... showing their hand now means the PS4 can match or up its specs even more. Not to mention some will wait and upgrade later instead of getting the slim.
So who's buying the slim now with a new high end xbox next holiday? Also I guess the neo haters have to shut up now as a high end PS4 will need to compete. This is the I industry now. New xbox looks nice. Gears too.
