You are wrong about XBL and the 360 controller being "universally accepted" as superior. Those are opinions maybe even a general consensus as to the XBL matter, they are not universally accepted. Things that are universally accepted: the sky is blue; water is wet; grass is green; snow is cold; fire is hot.
I think his point is that MS forces you to pay to play online. That is a huge deal, regardless of price breakdown, when you can play online elsewhere for free. If silver members could play online as well and a gold account was for extra stuff like increased bandwidth, movie downloads, etc., two things would happen: 1. people would stop b!tching about the price of XBL immediately, and 2. the number of gold members would be cut in half overnight.
I have to call you out on those quotes. This question affects only a small demographic of gamers, ie: gamers that have both a 360 and a PS3. And regardless of how many people here have both or claim to have both, the choice is already made for millions of people with current-gen systems. They are going to get it on the console they own. That is a foolish thing to say. Gears is only the biggest game this gen for 360 fanboys. Sony fanboys couldn't care less aout Gears. And reasonable gamers will agree, that while it was good, Gears is nowhere near the biggest game this gen. Especially this year when GTA4 and MGS4 finally release. Exactly. The title is misleading. They talk about MGS4 for about 3/4 of a page and as soon as he says they're both good reasons to own a PS3, they jump back to GTA4. The article would've been better if they had just left the metal gear portion out.

I may not have a complete grasp of the fine points of GPL, however, I do have a basic understanding of business. The thing you forget with Square-Enix and Kojima Production (FF XII and MGS4) is that they won't release the game until it's done. As for the exclusivity of FF XIII, no one may have officially shot down the rumor, no one has confirmed it either and there are always rumors about exclusives going to other platforms.
