Megaton exclusive! Microsoft responds to a rumor saying we do not respond to rumor or speculation. I feel so much more informed now.
Because you are taking away people's rights to their own property. Your logic says that no one has a right to resell their car because the manufacturer is not making any money off the sale. You don't see car makers going out and crushing used car sales.
As much as it pains me to say this: if the rumors about the next Xbox are true, there might be a PS4 in my future.
An easy way for Microsoft and Sony to kill off the used game market is make the consoles digital download only and this would be years from now or the generation after. I don't see either company leaving money on the table by alienating potential customers especially when they are going up against each other and now Valve. Microsoft knows the rabid fanbase and would not do something as drastic as this and still expect to be in business.
If any of this info is true than MS is already bungling this next generation before it even starts. Will wait for official info but it is looking more and more likely I will be getting either a PS4 or a Steambox after two generations of MS consoles. Microsoft really knows how to treat their loyal customers.
I think the mistake was releasing a $600 console rather than releasing later. Plus the arrogance of telling people to get a second job to afford it.
@extermin8or
There is not much Sony or Microsoft could change in regards to specs to counter the competition if we are talking even a couple months. It would cost millions upon millions just to change one component and that's not even mentioning the R&D. Sony can't afford that right now and they are just posturing. Microsoft is in the better position to do that right now.
Apple?
I love how people are deciding already not to buy the next Xbox based entirely on rumors. It really is the most idiotic thing I have heard in awhile. Microsoft has tasted blood this generation and there is no way they will cede to Sony the next. Why would they give up all the hard work they did to make it where they are. Yes, I do despise the fascination with casual but I don't think they have forgotten the hardcores that got them where they are.
Microsoft will go with game plan ...
Well I paid $400 for hardware that has lasted me 7 years and I am fine with that. I cant imagine what PC players have paid for their hardware to keep up to date.
Guys, I know who wins this next generation because I saw it in the movies The Island and Real Steel. They were playing the Xbox 720 and it looked pretty powerful.
4K is here...haha! You are equating a console that supposed to have mass appeal with a TV that at the moment costs $20,000. 4K will be here in about 5 years for the consumer.
Wow, it looks like the fanboys will have to wake up and realize that there was something wrong with the company if the CEO is saying this. Oh wait we are talking about fanboys...
How did the writer overlook anything when the title clearly states "in the U.S.". The article is clearly focused on the US market. If you want to include worldwide states write your own article. I live how xenophilic people get when it comes to the console wars.
You have to remember this will be a proprietary hard drive from Microsoft and not a company like Seagate. Unfortunately this probably means we won't be able to use off the shelf hard drives like the PS3 and will end up paying $159 for a 1TB official Microsoft hard drive.
The game is good, it's just the server issues are horrible. But that's to be expected since it's a Monolith game. Gotham Imposters had the same issue months after release.
Well my "data" was that I had 5 red ringed consoles before I got a slim, which has been working great. I was merely stating that Microsoft is definetly going to put more heat-resistant parts in the next machine. Please untwist your panties.
I am sure they will use something that generates less heat after the red ring debacle.
Umm, a unicorn duh!
@ziggurcat: Microsoft never responds to rumors or speculation whether it's a good rumor or a terrible one. They always have the same response. Which is why this article is pointless.
