the cell is a joint venture between sony, toshiba, and ibm. They all equally own it through a joint company called STi. Sony sold its cell factories to toshiba to make back some of the money it spent in r&d for the cell. It didnt sell its share in the processor and factories have nothing to do with research and development. Sony owns as much of the cell as its co-creators. IBM has been using the cell to make servers and the most powerful supercomputer on earth. You would have to be crazy ...
"It makes them better marketed games. LittleBigPlanet must be published by retards since the game idea should practically sell itself."
no, they did their job publishing it and they did a great job. if anyone is to blame its consumers for bad taste.
edit:
Yes i blame consumers. There are tons of things in this world that are popular and have no business even existing. example: reality tv
likewise there are things that should still exist, but poor consu...
you couldn't be further from the truth. Wii's are obviously going to dominate the sales in consoles. Twilight is going to rake it in at the box office. It also happens to be the #1 album on billboard right now. Reality tv shows always do well in the ratings. high school musical 1,2,3. Pokemon.
garbage. all of it. its been this way for years, maybe decades. good marketing turns any POS into a goldmine.
i wouldn't let it upset you. Not everyone can have good taste.
so by your logic, wii sports is about 4million away from being the greatest game of all time.
I think sony doesn't market games and the ps3 very well in america and that might have some effect on sales. but...
Also some games have legs and sale a bunch, but over a long period of time. LBP isnt really a mainstream game and even as fantastic as it is, its taken a back seat to resistance 2 for now on my ps3. I occassionally whip it out and play the newest levels and download the latest costumes. I also have ideas running in the back of my head for levels i want to make, but ...
no, they have hardly moderated anything. and copyright is copyright. deal with it. if you want to make your metal gear solid level, then make it, but dont use names that belong to konami. if you want to make a mega man level go for it. but dont call it the mega man level.
calling a level "littlebigmario" is asking to be moderated. calling a level "plumbers paradise" isnt going to draw much copyright infringing attention. just as you can be creative in designing leve...
shadow of the colossus didnt break any sales records or score super high reviews. it flies under the radar but may be one of the best games ever made.
If price matters why did the wii whip everyone? Isnt the 360 cheaper than a wii now? Isnt the arcade's soul purpose to combat wii sales?
Why are we not talking about that. Wii managed over 2 to 1 sales on the cheaper 360. 360 barely manages 2 to 1 on the very expensive ps3.
Those are good numbers. Obviously pulling 360 and wii numbers is going to be hard at their price level. Sales are consistent and they are just waiting until they can afford to drop the price and sales will turn up another notch. Its a process. We cant all be wii's and sell for no logical reason at all. And its taken the 360 3 years to get to the price level and sales it has. Its ridiculous to compare sony's 2 year sales to microsoft's 3 year sales. And if you do the numbers for where sony is ...
They appear to not have rated orange box. This website picks and chooses what to rate. Like littlebigplanet didnt get rated. I think 8.8 is crap and this game deserves way better. I also think this game is better than cod4, but what can you do.
gave halo 3 8.8
cod4 9.0
gta4 9.0
so its a tough rating system. 8.8 is fine.
its worked fine since the official launch last week. the server troubles were pre-official launch. so i guess he is a moron.
another ps3 game underrated by critics. its like reading the news and being a conservative.
the ps3's higher price is attributed mostly to the blurray drive, which doesnt have much to do with graphics unless you get into the compression versus no compression argument.
Price should be about the overall quality of the product. PS3 has never had a problem breaking and 360 did. Ps3 will be supported for at least 10 years, 360 who knows. ps3 was designed to take a long time to peak in performance, 360 uses older hardware that is easy to develop for, but will peak in performance soo...
Microsoft has to hand out vouchers because their harddrives are proprietary and overpriced. Not to mention now they are required to download the NXE. So all those arcade and core owners are going to have to spend money just to do an update. Not to mention they only have 2 harddrives to choose from. 20 and 160
Sony on the other hand lets you use any harddrive you choose. You dont need a voucher because you can shop around and find the cheapest price or the biggest harddrive you want.
if its anything like the first you will be pleasantly surprised. Resistance was a really good and long single player. And judging by your avatar you are a fan of their work.
How do you lack identity when you:
1) offer the only 60man multiplayer on a console
2) offer an 8 man coop unlike any other
3) one of the best stories by game standards and definatley by fps standards
because graphics has everything to do with making a game fun. 4 out of 5 sounds nice until you realize its 80/100. I think anyone can see this is not a game that deserves an 80.
i doubt youll see rsx chips. thats just a custom nvidia graphics card. its already outdated. same with the 360 gpu.
my bet is Sony will develop a combination of cell processors that will handle cpu and gpu work. cut out the tradional gpu that gets outdated every year.
