This will ultimately be a case of just moving things around like musical chairs. The model is flawed, Most consumers don't want a digital Blockbuster (rental). It doesn't work for games.

Consumers stood up and pushed back, Only a small fraction want to rent games and rent games at a price that doesn't work for Microsoft.

That's the problem, The model doesn't work. It is only value when it is value for the customer not value for Microsoft. Many rental models went away for a reason, maybe Microsoft should acknowledge that and just sell games.

They'll probably just end up killing off the surviving Xbox users who are left and that are into that model. They won't regain the vast majority they lost either.

You do realize that has been one of the big reasons for the mass exodus of people leaving subscription services. Getting ad's while paying for a service and having the price continually jack up and ad time.

Yes make it cheap again and find out that it still work or doesn't make enough money. Or maybe come to the realization that the model doesn't work either way, but knowing Microsoft they would rather bring the whole ship down rather than admit that. They just quietly walk away from their nuclear disasters like they had no involvement.

Agreed, basically Bethesda has mind capture over a section of games journalists who would continually give them an uncritical free pass on these things as long as they got their swords and sorcery hit in whatever form from them.

I'm not sure I'll get a PS6 at launch, it is going to take a while to get back the trust for a long time PS1 to PS5 user like myself. The way they sneakily undercut their core customers with PC ports wasn't appreciated neither is putting "multiplayer" PlayStation games on PC and they don't have to pay for PS+ to play them. Millions of PlayStation games were and are pirated on torrent sites for PC while the console customers are paying $80 a pop to subsidize that. Not...

Herman was Mr PlayStation games on PC.

The loss is from people like me who have bought games for PS1/2/3/4 at least about 100+ games for each console per generation, I've only bought 5 PS5 games and haven't turned it on in 3 years. Why? Because I didn't agree with them putting games on PC, especially when they got pirated for the most part and I'm subsidizing it. I'm not the only person who basically then went offline with their PS5 in response to this. They have clearly noticed.

I'm not...

Remember when you could buy a PC game anywhere and just install it without it being attached to a digital store or launcher. Good times.

Xbox games are not on disc so it is another torrent job for me. I'm not paying for Microsoft games only for them to withdraw them digitally when they have another brain fart

Failed to turn Xbox One around and tanked the Xbox Series X. Made the ridiculous acquisition of Activision Blizzard and the flop that is Game Pass, Sorry but he hung around way too long and cost Microsoft a lot of money. Like all Microsoft executives they fail up the ladder until they retire.

If Sony are smart they would delist their PC games now.

Should really be making a Slim PS5 Pro with Disc drive. Launching that model with no drive didn't do them any favours.

I'd also suspect they saw 500k+ people seeding Uncharted on certain websites and only 20k sales on Steam. That is a lot of copies essentially going out for free that console owners are paying for. If you can't protect your investment on PC then people on console would start to question why am I paying for this when I can get it free elsewhere. Similar trend is happening with TV/Movies subscriptions. I know there is a clutch of users who think piracy doesn't affect sales but in reg...
