5 years was the standard length for a cycle.
And, of course games take longer time to come up.
In Nintendo case, I think there's other factor involved as to why Zelda wii U took so long to make.
Personally, I think the development process for Zelda wii U went rather well because I think Nintendo used the Zelda development to study & learn new game making techniques/play mechanic while developing the Zelda wii U game.

Tekken 7 looks incredible. However, I would love it if the levels has more moving objects in the game. Kind of like MK X. Tree blowing in the wind hard, tidal waves, etc.
It doesn't have to have lots of it. A little bit is OK. Like the grass blowing in the wind like ps1's Soul Blade.
Does Tekken 7 have different time of days? like Sunrise and Sunset, etc.
From the article:
Even if NX is to replace Wii U.
Nintendo aren't crazy enough to pull the plug on the wii U.
I think Nintendo are worried about people's Perception more than anything else. So, they have to be extremely careful on every thing the say to the gaming public.
Okay, Releasing a complete stand a lone gaming system early on will hurt their image. There's just too much doubt in the minds of many gamers, and could ...
Just recently Nintendo was looking for a graphic engineer. That could only mean one thing...

As far as CPU and GPU if this is releasing in 2017 then I think it would be a huge mistake because the Next PlayStation and Xbox will be out by 2019 or 2020.
I disagree because wii U hardware is only DX11 capable meaning that it won't stand a chance against x1/ps4 now that both system have new API. Plus I highly doubt the wii U hardware was deigned to use multi-threading. Not to say it can't use it but it will be very limited.
Also, Zelda wii U is the...
You don't have to fix something that isn't broken.
Nintendo handheld are doing very well so it doesn't need anything else to make it successful. That said, making another hand held devices won't make much of a difference as far as sales.
Perhaps, Nintendo wants to make a poor man version devices for people(puzzle players/simple games) who don't care much for powerful mobile devices or the 3ds. After all, puzzle players make up a huge perce...
This is a great move by Nintendo.
Ok, first clue. DeNA is not a hardware company. They specialize in networking and have very good server knowledge. So, they'll most likely help Nintendo build a network infrastructure to make cross play possible between mobile and the wii U and 3DS.
The Nintendo NX might be an add on to the wii U hardware simply because I noticed that the graphics fidelity in most of Nintendo games(especially the recent games) hasn't ...
TGL is going to be a masterpiece.
TLG storyline might have some similarities to one of Japanese most popular tale about a Dog who is remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner.
Can't wait to see this game in action.

Why the GPU is split? good question because I've been wondering the same thing for a while.
I think the GPU is split for a reason unknown to us, but can be used in number of ways.
I thought about one possibility. I asked myself how does the x1 talks to MS's cloud tech.
According to recent x1 spec sheet on the internet the x1 has a two channel GPU. Perhaps one of the channel handles incoming compute ins...
I don't think gears is going to be an open world game because this is the first time black tusk working on the gears franchise.
They're most likely going to take baby steps before they go all out on gears.
VR will work.
The military uses VR all the time.army, navy and air force uses VR for Flight simulation,Vehicle simulation, Battlefield simulation, and Medic training. VR is even used on solders dealing with post traumatic stress disorder.
That being said, this is more than enough proof that VR works. Truth is, the military gets tech stuff before the civilian do.
Well, I think the only reason why a lot of people say VR is going to fail is beca...
muti-threading of multiple compute cores is a complete game changer for both PS4 and x1.
From the article:
SDK updates making them both more accessible and easier to develop for. Totally agree.
I think most devs are going to use less polygon/less number of textures in their games now that they have more lights and shadows to work with.
Sony's ice team are building a tool based on this, and I think other devs will do the same thing...
Man, please add complete control of a space craft in Mass effect. Make it have the most intuitive game play control & handling of a your space craft, from landing to take off, and pilot control using your PS4's thumb stick. One button for landing gear, one button to ignite rocket boosters, etc.
Make it in such a way that the players have to use timing and balancing of the space craft to successfully pilot the ship and take off. Accompanying with a computerized voice...
Seems I might get my MotorStorm fix after all.
Based on the movie trailer Mad max has some really intense car chase weather scene so the game might have it too.
I love the original mad max movie/mad max 2 soundtrack. There's an epic ring to it tunes.
I really hope they add Mad max's theme music in the game. Make the tunes intelligent.

It's time developers finally left 'last-gen' behind.
True that. Dying light would've lack hard on graphics/game play if the devs didn't decide to scrap the 360/ps3 version of DL.
I believe Mad max devs have done the same thing to get the most of current gen hardware.

That sounds like a good reason to delay QB.
But, Phil tends to tell us parts of his plans.
That said, there might be other reasons why QB was delayed.
Well, one thing that recently caught me off guard are the 50 indies games reveal at GDC.
Shoop, 50 indies games is lot of games and would need to be sold off as well as the aaa games. I guess Spreading them apart(by date) between the aaa games and t...
Did he say why?
Good move to delay it.
I think Publishers/devs are starting to notice that the amount of Hype a game gets has to be matched with the same amount of greatness.
Edit: Quantum Break is one of the most hyped game for the x1 so it need the attention to ensure that it will delvers the gaming experience most of you hoped for. Remember, some games are system seller, and some games are not.
Quantum Break is a system sellers. Besides, have any of you n...
Wii sold like hot cakes because of the motion control. Its was something new and many gamers wanted to give it a go. After that, Nintendo had nothing else new to show off.
The wii U is a different story because Nintendo tried to introduced something new by adding a game pad with the system, but that fad grew old quick because the game pad idea was simply an old tech many gamers have already experienced with the PS3 before.
The Wii was a luck shot.
