The sheer amount of 1st party studios that Sony has held on to or acquired over the years already spoke volumes of their commitment to gamers. But it's great that they had a plan from day one and have stuck to it. Now it isn't so much Sony stabbing Microsoft as it was Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot.
Also Sony really did turn the PS3 around and it truly was a marathon for them. Not just a sprint. But they are taking that momentum and throwing it behind the P...
Yeah maybe one with a bigger HDD, another controller, and the camera included for $499. Or maybe add a game in that as well for that price. Then let people decide between that and the $399 one and this thing will absolutely fly off the shelves.
I expect their will be some games in the future that will either use it for something or have it as an added option. One of the cooler aspects they mentioned back in Feb was how the PS4 could track the position of a controller and change the split screen orientation. Anyway it is nice that it is optional and also not expensive either.
Sony did say that all the entertainment stuff and single player gaming would still be allowed without Plus. Just MP is behind Plus along with the free games they offer.
This does bother me even though I have had Plus since it started. I have really enjoyed all the free games. Some of which I have yet to beat and some I haven't even played yet. I have always loved that online multiplayer was always free on the PS3. I will continue paying for my Plus subscription which I do a year at a time. I just hope that they allow everyone on my system to use Plus and not have to get Plus for each account. My kids and my wife like to play games and my wife and I both ...
they already confirmed that it will have an optical audio port. It is also in the press release specs.
It comes with one controller standard. If you want more controllers they will be $59 US each.
That is not a bad price for the camera either. Kind of cool it is optional as well. I expect we will see games that will use it though with the controller and maybe with the Move controlelrs as well.
I have PS+ and I have had it for awhile. However I am not happy they are putting this restriction on gaming online. Yes we have gotten and will continue to get free games but they need to clarify this a little more. Will we have to have separate Plus on each account or will one account cover them all? I am pretty excited for the SP games but this whole Plus for MP just irritates me.
Just to add at least we still get access to the other media aspects without having to play fo...
You also need a separate HDMI dongle to connect the XBOX One to the Cable Box. MS really is going the wrong route with this.
If cable providers find a way to work with Fanhattan and put out the FanTV box to their subscribers then MS could lose to them on the cable tv aspect and to Sony on the Games aspect.
Personally I like the route Sony is going by focusing on Games but giving us more options and I love that FanTv is said to be able to replace a cable box...
@XDHAV0K24x Actually they have stated their is a separate HDMI dongle you connect between the XBOX One and your cable box. It will be optional but an option you have to pay for if you want the TV functionality. MS can never make it as a simple as using a standard HDMI cablle. They need their extra money.
@Gildarts
They most likely aren't running physical servers. It wouldn't be very good cost wise no matter how much money you have. Most likely they truly are all virtual servers. Now depending on the server specs you can run multiple servers on a single piece of hardware and that is where the beauty of Virtual servers are. It is the same as having physical servers without the extra cost in hardware and power consumption.
I feel bad for the people who buy it for the TV not knowing you still have to have a cable box and also have to buy the adapter separately. I can see a lot of uninformed people buying it and then only realizing all that after they get it home. Hopefully then they will be smart and return it for something else.
People have been saying wait for E3 since 2009. It really hasn't changed anything. Microsoft foretold their own downfall way back then when you could clearly see their focus shifting from Games gamers wanted to Kinect. The XBOX One is just more of that on a larger more f'd up scale. But your right even if the so called 15 games are awesome and half of those will probably be Kinect only or supposedly "better with Kinect". Then their policies won't change because they beli...
Microsoft does not have the right idea at all. They have shifted their focus away from games and made that secondary for the console. A Gaming console is about gaming. There isn't anything wrong with adding features to a console beyond gaming though but Games should still be the primary focus.
What some are failing to realize though that Sony has been on the forefront of evolving a console to do more than just games. With the PS2 they were the first to have a DVD drive in...
Yeah I remember the PSOne as well. I didn't have one though. I had the original Playstation and then got the PS2.
Looking at the XBOX One I am reminded of the PSX though.
I guess it doesn't matter how much Live will cost. But you figure they may make rechargeable battery packs for the controllers. So say you buy another controller at $60. Then buy 2 rechargeable kits that is another $100. Then if you really want to do the whole TV functionality (only in US at launch) that will probably go for anywhere between $49-$69 dollars for the HDMI dongle to go from your cable box to the XBOX One. So your still looking at probably somewhere between $750-950 before yo...
It will probably be $499 with a 1-2 year live gold subscription. $599 without the subscription. I see the PS4 coming out at $499 as the standard price.
They have a really distorted view looking through the "new water cooler."
I have it and I will keep it. However I want to know if it will work the same as it does now with the addition of the MP being locked unless you have Plus. Meaning will one person pay for Plus and then everyone under that account on the same console will be able to play online. I ask this because in the past MS had required everyone to have Live Gold separately to play online but with XBOX One they are smartly changing that to one subscription covers the whole family. I hope Sony does the sam...
