Publishers have now known for almost 9 years (really longer because Oblivion and Fallout 3 were big as well) that a single player first person western RPG could be a huge success if it is made well. Somehow, other than another Bethesda game (Fallout 4), we have gotten two serious attempts at this genre in that time (Kingdom: Come and Outer Worlds). If Skyrim "sucked" as much as people pretend it does, it would have been surpassed many times. Yes I know about Witcher 3. It's thir...

If they make it so I can play Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 at 60 fps, I might buy it just for that. Hopefully they also make signing in multiple profiles to do local multiplayer on prior generations more seamless. Google "Left 4 Dead 2 split screen backwards compatibility Xbox one" and look at all the reddit threads talking about how annoying it is if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I have friends who wanted me to download it, who argued that I might as well because it is free. Then I saw it would require me to give up like 175 GB of space and I said no way. I understand from a marketing perspective why they make you download the entire game just to play warzone (so that if it convinces you to buy the full game, you don't have to wait to play), but I think they are underestimating how many people will be turned off just by the space required.

Honestly I think each has their downsides. For the hardcore, obviously Sony's option is better, since we'll have more options of how to expand storage. However, MS's proprietary card will be easier for the regular consumer, because they don't have to worry about whether an upgrade has all the correct specs, etc. I know the PS5 upgrade sounds easy to you, and tutorials will be readily available showing how to do it, but I guarantee you that there will still be tons of forum pos...

Your console downloads the entire game even if you buy physical on PS4. Unlike on PS3, games don't run from the disc. The disc is just another installation method, and you only have to keep it in the console afterwards for licensing purposes (because obviously people would just install a game and then immediately sell/trade the disc if you didn't have to put it in the console after installation).

On the second point, yes, you can download PS4 games from PSNow (not P...

Would like to see near modern. So mostly modern guns, choppers, tanks, but without the need to try to incorporate too much current/near future tech. Like late Cold War/Desert Storm era.

Also as some people have noted, they need to be quicker with the maps. Despite the hate from people who never played it, BFV actually put out some really good free maps, they just took forever to do it.

So in other words, it isn't the original Gameboy. If it has exclusives that can't be played on the prior system, it should not be grouped with that system. Seems like a pretty easy, straightforward principle. I hate the idea of the new 3DS as well, but I don't attack it as much because it wasn't as significant of a divide (the biggest issue there seems to be the expanded Virtual Console that includes SNES). Once Color came out, major games were color exclusive. The "well ...

"forced to buy 2 or 3 system[s]." I hate it when massive companies force me to buy their entertainment products. It's too bad there were no PS2 competitors, I'm sure they would have done exceptionally well in light of PS2's failures.

I'm going to have to play through the first one again before this hits.

These lists always annoy me be combining Game Boy Color sales in with the original Game Boy. No, it's not the same as combining the different models of the PS2 or the Original Xbox One and One X. You can't play Game Boy Color games on Gameboy, so it isn't the same console, it's two different consoles. It's actually more like combining DS and 3DS sales or PSP and Vita sales.

@phoenixwing

Totally agree. COD4 literally ruined multiplayer shooters. There's a whole generation now who doesn't understand that people used to play multiplayer games because the games themselves were fun, rather than because the game artificially locked you out of content until you played a certain number of hours.

I keep seeing people trying to tie Series X to Cyberpunk 2077 in various ways. Yes, you'll be able to play the game on series X via backwards compatibility. Yes, when the updated next gen version of the game releases, you will get that version for free via Smart Delivery. However, they have already said that the upgraded next gen version won't be ready at launch: "However, when it comes to a proper, full-blown next-gen version, that's going to come later, we haven't annou...

I think we're going to get uncharted spin-offs, but not from naughty dog.

I don't understand how fps isn't always the priority over native resolution. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the more recent Halo games have all used dynamic resolution so that the game locks at 60 fps and adjusts the resolution down when necessary. I'd put this feature in every game if I could, at least as an option.

The problem with this is that every gen people think the next one is the one that's going to have 60 fps at the highest practical resolution of that time (so looking ahead to last gen 1080p, and now this gen 4k), because we get tired of 30fps and think "oh, well the systems will be more powerful, surely they can do 60 fps at the resolution I want." But no one wants to factor in that the graphics are also enhanced in ways other than resolution, and devs will still just push the e...

CaptainCook *attempts to list features to show that PC games are built around SSDs*

Ends up listing additional features that prove that PC games offer optional enhancements for SSDs, but are not designed around them.

It depends on what degree of "boost" the next gen systems have when playing games in BC, if any. For instance, you can play BioShock in BC on a XONE S, and there may be some small advantage compared to 360, but it won't be like playing the remastered version from the collection. Same thing with PS3 games; I mean, you can't do true BC there, but even if you could play the last of us on PS4 as it was on PS3, the remastered version is significantly smoother, etc.

Glad to see someone gets it. It's never as simple as "Game 1 sold 6 million copies as an exclusive on console A with an install base of 50 million units, so if we release game 2 on console B, which has an install base of 25 million units, we'll sell another 3 million units." People always talk like that's what's going to happen, and it rarely ever does.

PSNOW lets you download some games (PS4 games, not PS3 games). This alone makes it better. If companies are going to insist on streaming, download should always be an option for those of us who don't enjoy input latency.

Yeah, this guy comes close to getting it, he just only looks at it from one side. Once you've committed a series to being exclusive, you're usually better off leaving it there and getting the marketing support from the first party as well as the inherent perception of higher quality that exclusives get. The whole notion that you are going to increase your sales proportionally to the size of the other console's install base never seems to work, and you lose the perception of being ...
