I see what you're saying (although I'll never pay as much for a phone as I would a console), but I do think phone prices are relevant in that the shift from carrier subsidized phones has conditioned people to better understand the value of electronics.

At least in the US, it used to be that carriers would massively subsidize very expensive phones, such that you could get an expensive iPhone or Samsung phone for free or less than $200 that you'd now pay $600+ for...

Maybe they think it has been long enough and enough people have forgotten, but I think they will avoid $599 at all costs to avoid negative comparisons to PS3 launch. There are a whole host of reasons why $599 would be more reasonable now, but that wouldn't stop the wave of bad press they would inevitably get.

I love these kids who pretend to have amazing PCs. In reality KilluaX3 probably uses integrated graphics to play Fortnite.

This is the answer. And people will always be like "oh, but 360 sold 76 more units than PS3 in the UK, and that's another region," but if you look at Europe as a whole, it isn't competitive.

People also ignore the impact of Japan with statements like "Japan isn't important for home consoles anymore" (ironically these are often the same people who treat the UK as an important individual region), but PS3 sold over 10 million there, and PS4 is t...

I see your point, but your argument assumes that it is the same 10% buying every exclusive. While there is inevitably some crossover, and there are some hardcore Sony fans who will buy nearly every exclusive, it should be obvious that different games appeal to different people. The person who loves Gran Turismo may not buy uncharted, while the uncharted fan may not be interested in God of War, and the God of War fan may be tired of superheroes and skip Spiderman.

Also, even...

You admitting that you think mobile gaming is worth discussing tells us pretty much all we need to know about your opinions.

Yeah multiplayer only games should always have bots. I still play 2004 Battlefront because it has bots.

This would be awesome. I have a very mild lazy eye (not the medical term, but it's the one everyone knows, haha) which I wear glasses for, which is not great for VR. Typically I don't wear them with VR because I don't want to scratch the headset's lenses, but then I end up straining my eyes pretty hard or frequently closing one eye (although in shooters that actually makes sense at times anyway). If I could resolve this by angling the lenses in the headset, it would be amazing...

I say this every time this series comes up, but if PS3 Warhawk had bots, I never would have stopped playing it.

It absolutely needs to be wireless and use inside out tracking. Since I got Oculus Quest, I've only set up PSVR one time. It's such a hassle and I feel like it's only worth it if I know I have several uninterrupted hours to play. Quest on the other hand is viable in basically any room at any time.

I hate Polygon as much as most people, but I have to admit it would have been hilarious for them to give this game a 7.5.

Lol pretty sure anyone who was going to buy a Vita for this one game did so many years ago.

XMB was good except that some of the settings options were a little convoluted, but that's true for PS4 as well. As far as organization of games and videos, it was nice.

Yeah, and they don't want to wait too long either.

I don't think this is what you are saying exactly, but if they came out a model for the standard price (we'll say $450 for the sake of argument, though that may be optimistic), I would absolutely pay $100 more for an "enthusiast" version that included PS3 hardware so it could play those games. As others have pointed out, PS3 is notoriously hard to emulate, so I can't fault them on not having an emulator.

PS4 BC is going to work as we know (I firmly be...

It also doesn't really make sense because there's a pretty great chance that most of the 360 games he's playing are playable on XONE, and in several cases they probably play better via BC (not to mention Master Chief Collection if he's still playing Halo games).

Now that my Gamepass has lapsed, I don't have anything on my XONE except 360 games. To be fair, I never owned a 360 though, so there's that.

Lol Minute Man 721 comes in, as if on cue, with a "Gamecubes struck by lightning" story. Which as I said, that's why you don't attribute significant 360 sales to RROD, because someone will always have some "but my PS2 broke after my brother threw it down the stairs, and I had to buy a new one" story. Looks like darthv72 had some consoles destroyed by lightning as well.

No one can really account for how much a failure rate contributes to any conso...

@DEEHULK88

1. I agree with you. Despite RROD being a big deal for a few years, I never cite it as a significant portion of its overall sales. As you say, people often got replacement consoles free or got a refurbished one. Also, it's not like everyone bought multiple 360s; some got fed up after RROD and switched to PS3. So if I start factoring that in how it caused people to buy additional 360s, I also have to factor in how it benefitted PS3. It's easier just to ign...

I don't actually think XONE was a colossal failure- MS has one real market they are a significant player in, they sabotaged their own launch, and they're still going to sell 60ish million. 360 was artificially boosted by Sony's many mistakes, having a year head start, and having the games media basically advertising for them for the first few years of the generation.

However, your comparisons don't benefit you. SNES came out at a time the industry was smalle...
