Sounds like the developer was basically saying CAS latency for them has no noticeable impact due to the architecture of the system. He then gives a nod to the Bandwidth as a factor in performance between the two types of memory.
Digging a little deeper, we have to understand that most developers don't even have a way to effectively guage this. Its not quite so easy to measure specifically the impact of CAS latency vs other latencies or other aspects of particular types of...
In the comments about physical vs digital... the reality is that even physical games provide no real safety. The first thing that happens when a game starts up is a check for updates.. dumping an update that kills a game works just as well for physical as for digital... Most games will not play until properly updated .. so your physical game can be easily bricked by the console Itself.
The X1 actually is very buggy, clunky, and poorly designed. Fanboys will look past all the pain points, but the X1 was a sloppy job. In fairness this is probably in part due to the 180s they were doing at the beginning. With all the constant updating the X1 does, I still feel the PS4 has by far the best console experience even when it comes to media. The X1 still can't even do screen transitions properly(when you hit the back button it is extremely tacky to show the previous screen, then ...
@Geoff
You realize that Every console, phone, tablet, desktop PC, etc. are all VERY software oriented...
@NuggetsOfGod
Running a Demo on a PC that is 2 feet from the Server on a gigabit connection equates to massive bandwidth and no latency. This basically disqualifies it for any real life example... Tech demos are POCs(proofs of concept) held within very controlled environments. A POC takes weeks or months to create due to its controlled environment. The real life implementation of such a POC is always far more difficult and takes YEARS if there is even a feasible way it can be...
The likely reasons people haven't bought an X1(in no specific order):
-Waiting on a price drop
-Still saving up the money
-Waiting on the right game/s to be released
-Don't realize they need or want one yet but may be convinced at some point in the future based on external influences
-Don't have any intention of ever getting one.
Those are the groups MS has to weigh in against.
None of those people at this ...
I own both and never has that ever been a consideration for me... nor do I personally think anyone really cares for the most part. I will even go as far as to say that getting a game that is potentially inferior just because you get it a few hours early is pretty much ludicrous unless you are a game journalist and you want to throw out click bait as soon as possible to maximize revenues... then I could see where every hour counts.
More or less If you and I visited the same location our games would procedurally generate whatever world was there identically. So the universe is the same for everyone.
The initial excitement is for how they are developing the game More so than the game itself although the game does also look intriguing.
Wow.. it just dawned on me how huge their dev approach is and how it could really help revolutionize game development. Not talking about how the game looks or plays. Im Talking about the level to which they are procedurally generating the game. To make a massive game that doesn't take up a massive space on your drive or some server. To do what they are doing at the complexity level they are at is awesome. Hope the resulting game is a blast too. We will have to see.
Just goto listwar.com
They have done a good job of keeping things up to date so far.
This only show's the lack of trust in reviews with good reason... A completely broken MCC got great reviews... while at the same time a broken drive Club gets run completely through the mud. To me that is just sloppy. The word reliable becomes a joke. I don't think the media is necessarily slanted towards either side I really think it depends on the day and what can make the most money. Game reviewers are like rabid dogs. They pounce of the first thing in sight and lose sight complet...
EA Access without "early access" probably would have flown okay with Sony. But no one in their right mind should support that option. VERY bad precedent for gaming. I should not have to pay Extra or be forced into an unwanted subscription to hope to get a game on time. Luckily EA access isn't getting much traction. But that's no thanks to you blind fanboys. Besides. honestly this will likely damage bf more than it will help EA access though.
Guys might want to rethink your view. With EA access, you have to now pay extra to hope to get a game on time. All other publishers provide this "early access" to all free of charge Without needing a subscription. It isn't hard to see why Sony didn't support this. It is a greedy move and provides NO value to the gaming whatsoever. Take off the fanboy goggles for a moment and see the truth of what early access really means for gaming...
Well it was the 3rd highest selling system in Japan per the numbers...
what are you going by goku?
hmm... Unless you are wanting to do comparisons in quality... This is probably more detrimental than beneficial. Higher quality means much larger file size.
Think about the stupid 14+ mega pixel cameras on your phone that take pictures that take up half the space on your phone. They have to be compressed massively so they can be posted to the web.
For people with data caps(which seems to be the going trend for many ISPs) this is likely not a good thing as th...
Just makes TLOU that much more amazing right?
Doesn't mean that other good games dont get crapped on. The weather report is almost always wrong.. but I check it because it at least gives me a general idea and a second opinion. I think attaching numbers to games is more harmful than good in most cases.
Most Intelligent thing I've read so far in this post.. Kudos!
I think 3-4-5 is being at least slightly arrogant. Most cannot afford to purchase all consoles and maintain a Gaming PC. For them it is a tough decision that has to be made every generation. That is what they will choose for their medium...
The "console war" exists because the question is repeatedly asked by those who have to make a tough decision. Some people do develop loyalties to companies, it is no different than with any other product. If you like a company a...
Last I checked, it was the XMB that got a massive amount of design awards and had way more critical acclaim. The original xbox had kudos but not sure I remember anyone talking up the 360 ui.
