No retail 500 dollar pc would beat either console... that is a foolish and stupid comment. Consoles are optimized specifically for gaming. You will likely be hard pressed to find a pc under 1000 that will perform to the level of a console unless either company completely messed up.
A pc even when your game is running has a bloated OS handling a whole slew of background processes while your game is running.

Graphics always matter people... Presentation will make or break anything and games are no exception... The degree to which they will influence our choices is significantly more complicated than a few paragraph comment so people please stop trying to make an attempt.
The point people miss is that between two very similar consoles there isn't much else to compare. That is why this topic always comes up.

To me it is all about the early betas access. at least 4 i remember off hand getting in on simply by being a plus subscriber.
UC3, Assassin's Creed, DC Universe, Dead Space.. There have also been early demos for games too.. honestly though the beta access alone is nice, paying 50 bucks to get a feel for a game up to several months before it comes out is worth it... the other free games are just icing on the cake...

The review makes me want to get the game. It honestly sounds like joystiq just doesn't have any metrics in place for how to count deductions. And that is why lower calibur games that suprise you a little get good scores and AAA games that aren't just everything that the unrealistic hype makes them to be end up getting lower scores even though they are probably totally awesome games.

Note about hacking: Whoever said the 360 is clean really should just not comment as that is the dumbest thing I have ever read in here. If you have followed anything, you know the 360 has been hackable since almost the beginning. The ps3 now being hacked just puts it closer to the level of the ps3..

It is funny that GT5 is considered to be better than Forza 3 by most all critics and yet critics rated forza 3 higher. why is that? well, my only grumpiness over this article is that its not an article its just a sales pitch, and a poorly done one at that.... to say the console shines with exclusives for the holiday guide then list games some of which came out near the release of the console is a bit misleading... then on top of that some of the games aren't even exclusive at all.. Treyarch had nothing to do with MW 1 or 2. The last COD they worked on was World at War. traditionally there has always been a noted difference between the COD games treyarch has produced compared to those that Infinity Ward has produced. That being the case, yes mw 1 and 2 could have worked flawlessly on the ps3 and black ops could have problems. It would be better to maybe compare how problematic WAW was on the ps3.

I agree with what you said, except for the take on sales. At this point the install base for the 360 and ps3 are close to the same. In business you go for where you can make the quickest easiest increase in profits. 1) xbox live sacrifices developer freedom by forcing a unified interface upon them that they have to work with. This saves ms alot of grief, and to SOME devs it is good because it saves them from having to invest alot of time designing certain key features of their online element. Halo can really be compared to star wars as far as cult followings go...

Jailbreaking is not game piracy.. don't mesh the two.. it does simplify the process, but there are plenty of other reasons to unlock the ps3 other than to facilitate obtaining free games... the ps3 linux community would love to have their other os back, and have full access to resources there(which they never could get without a hack of some sort). The whole linux side itself was awesome for researchers. I can think of just as many or more legal reasons to hack the ps3 as i can the iphone...
This is a poor submission... His statement is Universal... And he makes a valid point. No developer is going to throttle the system purposely to use less resources. Technically every AAA game is making use of all resources... what makes the difference is learning to optimize with the new technologies just as much as actual hardware limitations.
