I go with the Xbox360 controller for Windows. Fantastic support and usually better support / drivers than other 3rd party controllers. Plus it's fairly cheap now, especially 2nd hand.
By bloatware I didn't mean all the crap that pre-built PC's ship with.
It's the bloat caused by having a general purpose kernel and OS, and GPU drivers etc that have to cater for multiple hardware set ups and configs. Versus having an OS and kernel that is tailored to get the best from coding games on consoles because it's static hardware.
Any PC gamer who isn't impressed by what the PS4 can throw out using a laptop CPU and a low/med GPU i...
I dunno what we could replace gamer with.
Digital Entertainment Enthusiast??? :)
My biggest problem with recent Codemasters games is the incredibly long loading times for simple menu transitions!!
Drives me nuts, that a menu would do the job - but we have to have bells and whistles for something that should be simple and quick.
I loved the F1 games, but unfortunately with the new gen of consoles not supporting older wheels like the Logitech G27 I have much less interest in buying their games - especially the F1 games, where I think a whee...
The day my parents hooked up their Coelcovision, and I played it endlessly. I think there were 15 built in games that were almost all variations on Pong. Some could be played Single Player. No idea how old I was but must have been pretty young.
From there it was the Atari VCS (my Aunt worked for Atari so would sometimes give me prototype carts - I still have a few), and the Commodore Vic 20 was my first 'computer'. I remember typing in hundreds of lines of code pri...
Lucky you! Although I should have just referred to 8-series GPU's, rather than 8800's specifically as those did have a lot less problems.
But I would not call a $250 million provision for fixing faulty cards great.

Nividias handling of that incident was just as bad, if not wo...
I tend to go for Nvidia as well. The price vs performance always seems better.
As hiredhelp said - the AMD drivers are better now though, and no reason not to consider AMD.
The only time I actively avoided Nvidia was during the old 8800 series cards, when Nvidia used poor materials and a lot of GPU's failed. I had a gaming laptop at the time that failed and it took ages for Nvidia to admit the fault and put in place a free repair program.
As a console and PC gamer I think it averages out about the same over time. Or at least close enough for it to not matter much
PC games have gone up in price, and many are now comparable to console games at launch (mainly EA games from what I've seen) - the difference is that PC games tend to drop in price faster, and game key sites can have bargains. I also tend to spend a lot on Steam sales, so buy comparatively more games :)
I don't agree with yo...
Nothing to worry about, and probably worth doing a bit more research as only #3 was written by Amy. Why should Amy leaving even be seen as a negative thing - maybe she just wasn't right for the job, and the changes made are for the BETTER!
It's interesting to see these various flavours of article that range from 'I'm mildly concerned' to 'the game is doomed' (not just for Uncharted, but every AAA - and even a few Indies. I'm just waiting for t...
Just get the damn thing on the market already!! :)
I'd love to be playing Elite Dangerous on a consumer release Oculus. I am continually tempted to buy the latest dev kit.
Wow what an informed reply! /s
$700 for a 60Hz 4k screen, plus a Titan GPU.. Yeah I think you're proving my point not yours that 4k is gonna take a while to become affordable at higher refresh rates.
I said the majority of 4k screens are still 30Hz, which is true. The fact you've tried a few 60Hz means nothing to disprove that a search for 4k screens will show there are more 30Hz on the market.
I don't need to use a 4k screen to k...
I agree with most of their predictions.
The only one I would disagree with is that 4k resolution will be a big thing and leave consoles in the dust. There is much more to graphics than how many pixels are being pushed.
If we're just talking hardware it seems gamers need a minimum of 60Hz, with 144Hz being desirable. We've barely seen any 144Hz 1440p monitors, and the majority of 4k screens are 30Hz right now. Sure that'll change quickly over th...
'Hardcore' is a ridiculous term...
I was speaking to a guy yesterday who has 700hours put in to Real Racing 3 on iPad... Yeah, 700! And has spent no more than £20 real money...
What about people who play detailed sims that mimic real life activities, or historically accurate military scenarios and excel at them.
I imported and completed the original Demons Souls from Hong Kong long before it became cool and popular in Europe and ...
Never played it, but was disappointed when the art style and direction changed. Seemed the publisher stuck their nose and and took a decent idea and crapped all over it.
If anyone is interested, the PC Steam version is also roughly the same price from G2A.com and other key sites.
I'm quite tempted. Didn't seem worth the money for full price - but £15 seems more appropriate for a repetitive hack n slash
I'll always miss StarWars Galaxies. Such an awesome sandbox MMO. Shame the devs screwed it up.
I'd love to see a Dan Dare MMORPG.
The gap between the XB1 and PS4 is nothing like what the advantage the PS2 had over competitors, and times have changed to the point where that margin of domination will not be seen again. Just as when Nintendo had over 90% market share with the NES - times were different.
The PS2 literally caused a competitor to leave the market. That's domination.
So I can see what Godmars is getting at.
@jaymacx
Yeah, that's an interesting thought.
I bet they've got Miyamoto sat posting Amiibo to ebay while he waits for Star Fox to compile...
On a serious note, intentionally constraining supply is an age old tactic for massively increasing demand and creating false desirability in products.
So it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo have created the scarcity of Amiibo, rather than their excuse that they did smaller ...
You can't really blame PS4 fanboys for their behaviour. They spent almost an entire generation being lambasted by obnoxious Xbox fans over such important things as Red Dead Redemption having a few blades less grass on PS3.
It was like psychological torture; so it's understandable there would be some residual mental scarring that would manifest itself in manic, rabid behaviour!
And to be fair they're not much worse than the PC Elitist who are high...
Got my New 3DS Ambassadors edition on the way.
My old 3DS XL was traded for a Vita. I don't regret getting a Vita, but I'm glad to get another 3DS to play some of the newer titles I was missing out on.
Very much looking forward to playing Xenoblade Chronicles, then hopefully going straight in to Chronicles X on WiiU
