What does Sony outselling Micrsoft do for you?
Or 3DS out selling 360?
Gaikai (Japanese for "open ocean") is a cloud-based gaming service that allows users to play high-end PC and console games via the cloud and instantly DEMO games and applications from a webpage or internet-connected device.
At the END of the DEMO, the customer is given the option to PURCHASE the game or product from a local retailer, online store or direct-to-drive download service.
So you can demo a game and then given the option to actually buy t...
Onlive has actually games that can be played in their fullness and has a better catalog of games.
Gaikai is a demo service that streams at a much easier pace and is said to be better latency wise.
Why are people saying MSFT need Onlive? MSFT doesn't need Onlive, if anything Onlive needs MSFT.
Micrsoft already is in deep with cloud and has their own infrastructure already so it would pointless to buy Onlive.
Also, Sony hasn't even proven it knows what it want to do or how it will implement their service so why jump the gun and go and buy Onlive when Sony could very well fail in their attempt.
Microsoft is already in a posi...
Why Sony? Onlive actually has full pledged games while your service are demos? At least could of waited.
1. Next gen on current hardware
That would be nice if that was even an option. You want to send me next generation games via streaming. Imagine the bandwith I would need to stream Star Wars 1313.
2. Previous content made accessible
I think this is what will end up happeneing and allowing PS1/PS2 games to be streamed will be huge for their push to mobile.
3. Higher storage capabilities
Higher hard drive spaces should be include...
Sexism isn't an issue on the video game world because the opinions expressed in video games are fake.
It's 2012 and both have been out since 2005 and 2006. Just have both of them.
A hardware company pulling off this type of software prowess things will be rather interesting.
The article is a little misguided becasue in no way shape or form is MS purchasing Onlive or even have to do so as they are already devoted to the cloud on their own infrastructure.
There is less of a hassel of internet speeds than there is internet caps. Sure 4G is fast as broadband but at 2-10 GB a month that is crazy.
I see Sony putting PS...
It is worth the hassel though. It is a subsidized plan.
I could either buy a new phone with a two year contract and pay less up front.
Or- I could buy it outright and pay less of a subscription plan.
Either way you are going to pay about the same price here or there.
This type of model has been out a long time and there isn't anything wrong with it. It's an option for those who don't have $300-400 to give ...
What is innovation but an improvement on previous ideas and themes.
Am I saying CoD innovates, well that's up to the indivudual but constant improvement is how we got technology to what it is now.
Nothing that is brought out now is nothing "new" or "unseen"
This is only for China because the way their gaming industry works is vastly different than ours therefore Call of Duty Online is about the only way Activision can make any revenue in that part of the world.
The comments about quality are misguided.
My opinion is wrong? Since when was that ever possible?
No offense by why is he relalvent?
Why is it different from other guys leaving a company and joining a different gaming company?
It's not? I thought the article was taking what Nintendo has said and is critizing it again by not being what "core" gamers want but in that regard Nintendo arguements are exactly what it claims to be.
The article takes what Reggie says and gives counter arguements that don't go in line with what consumers what because "core" gamers thing they are the important gamers.
No?
This was a very true article actually. Gaming websites and critics and fans are critizing Nintendo left and right and they perform well to the task they have.
It does put out a rather interesting point that the online gaming perception is no where near the consumer base thinks. For example, many gamers feel Nintendo lacks "hardcore games": the general population says Mario, Zelda, SSB is hardcore enough.
Well Micrsoft had the insight to know that streaming would be realistic in 2015 with their leaked documents so Microsoft has had this in the works just doesn't think it is ready for the maainstream like they think 3D isn't, both true statements.
Neither company is playing catch up or anything it is two companies realizing that cloud is a viable option.
Are you misinformed about MS software prowess? One of the best if not the best software companies out. The world uses90% of their software.for computers.
MSFT has changed Xbox into a brand service and that is hard to do. Xbox Music on the way and other services slowly trying to take over entertainment and the crazy part is the only company with the ecosystem to do it.
Microsoft doesn't really care about Japan as a territory because Japan doesn't care about Xbox.
