Gonna be honest, the only person I've seen play the game on Xbox had a bunch of bugs. Either the game is poorly optimized for the Xbox or the Xbox is just not as good at running it, not sure but I had no bugs on the PS5 for what it's worth.

Cue the Charlie Murphy laughing clip.

Anybody know how they're handling the game not being open world? Is it going to be semi open world like Yakuza or completely linear like FFXIII?

There hasn't been in a long time. This demo is like a 90's demo but it's even better in the instance that your progress actually carries over to the main game. It's simple but in a gaming world where nobody else is doing it, it's genius.

It definitely was. I've been super critical of the game and have gone to preordering when it was announced to cancelling once gameplay was shown to preordering again after the demo. My main gripe was that it looked like it was going to be a westernized, low budget version of a Final Fantasy. Basically a low budget FFXV. But I'm happy to say I was wrong. The game feels a lot like Tactics from a storytelling standpoint and the gameplay looks like it's going to be pretty deep as you ...

Probably because internally it's being looked at as a bridge game between FFVIIRemake and FFVIIRebirth. They know Rebirth will be the big seller but they have to put something out in the meantime and a numbered Final Fantasy still carrries some weight. The way you know it's being looked at as a bridge game though is it's clear by the graphics and the team chosen to work on it that it's not being given anywhere near the budget of FFVIIRebirth. It doesn't interest me persona...

FFVIIR changed too much imo. Square just let Nomura take too much of the reins and he turned it into FFVII Kingdom Hearts.

I kind of hate that it's not going to follow the formula of the first game honestly. The first game was such a vibe. Really one of the most unique experiences I've had playing a game. That first 10 or so hours in DS before you get any weapons or vehicles is probably the most immersive experience I've had outside of a VR game. You really get the sense of desolation/isolation and get to really take in the environment that Kojima created. Definitely one of the best games to play if y...

Disagree. All you have to do is watch the two latest trailers. I don't think they could be any different. To me, RE is now like the bigger budget horror movies that are more catered to wider audiences. Silent Hill is the more A24 type horror movie that's more stylized and aimed more at horror enthusiast. Both good in their own right but they couldn't be more different imo.

If you were wondering whether or not the game was going to be good just go to 1:37 and look at that screenshot. That is some master level cinematography right there. When a picture can speak to you more than words or special effects can, you don't get much better than that. To me, that picture tells me that whoever's directing this game "gets it" and it's going to carry even more emotional weight than the original did.

I don't think what they showed today looked bad. Will it capture the magic of the original? Probably not but I don't think that can be expected. I mean RE2Remake was a decent game but to me it didn't capture the magic of the original RE2 either. I think SH2Remake will be good though and introduce a bunch of new people to the world of Silent Hill. That's really all we can ask for at this point.

I'd say they've matched it in spots, just haven't been able to sustain it. I remember after SH2 came out, it was the top horror game at the time. Also, when PT came out, it had great success but of course Konami screwed it up and fired Kojima. At the end of the day, that's probably the real problem, Konami, not the Silent Hill IP.

May have played better ( not saying much considering the original came out on the OG Xbox ) but it was "Max Payne" in name only. Disregarding that it's basically not canon anyway since it wasn't written by Sam Lake, Max Payne at it's core was a dark, gritty story about a detective trying to come to grips with grief, feelings of inadequacy and trying to stay sane while seeking revenge. Those original games actually hit people on an emotional level. Those are some reasons ...

They need a few things if they want to be financially successful.

1. 100+ player Battle Royale ( self explanatory )
2. More focus on being competitive ( ranked mode, incentivizing kills, etc. )
3. Faster gameplay ( movement was better this time around but it was still a little too clunky. Needs to be fast and responsive. )
4. Limit bugs/New engine ( with as many bugs as the last game had, seems like it's time for a new engine. )

I was fortunate enough to experience the "Golden Age" at the time and no, this is nothing like it was back then. Square could literally do no wrong. From around like 1994-2001, it seemed like literally every game they made was a classic. They're a far cry from that today. There hasn't really been what I'd call a great mainline Final Fantasy ( non-mmo ) since the orignal FFX. And their other original IP's haven't been all that good either. Right now they're be...

Yea, for me to give it a 10/10 it would have needed Skyrim level character interaction and story. The gameplay is good but it needs more to support a 40 or so hour completion time.

It's tech issues honestly aren't bad at all ( on PS5 ), what really holds the game back is the severe lack of story and unpopulated open world. Game is still a decent play though. Just feels like Dark Souls on a huge map. I'm about 8 hours in and I'm around a 7-8/10 as well. Good game but definitely not the groundbreaking masterpiece like the reviews would have you believe.

The big thing holding this game back which just isn't fixable though imo is the game is just boring. The shooting/combat mechanics don't really compare to other modern FPS games and none of the characters are very memorable outside of Keanu so it's hard to get invested in a story with gameplay and characters you don't care about.

Well said and I completely agree, that's why I like the Judgment series. It's raw and gritty like I want my Yakuza games to be.
