I dont think Sony made the PS3 to win the console war they made it to win the format war between HD DVD vs Blu Ray. That was a very wise business decision by Sony.. I mean the Movie industry is 10x bigger than the gaming industry. So the royalties they will get when the mass consumers start buying Blu Ray players are going to be astronomical compared to the money the will get in the gaming industry.
I dont think Sony isn't going to drop their prices this year on the PS3 because...
I dont think this is going to sell as much as Halo.. Dont get me wrong it sounds like a great game but like Apoc said most of the PS3/360 fanbase are more towards the hardcore/shooter/action games not kiddy games and I dont think many parents are going to go out and buy a $400 console so that their 5-11 year old kids can play this game. Now if this game was on the Wii I have no doubt it would sell more than 2 million on its release date and more than 10 million in its lifetime.
Nice updates... The PS3 is finally getting up to par with the 360 with these feature updates.. Yes it did take almost two years but better late than never!

The only way XBL will become free is when PSN is in the same league and remains free.. PSN has really improved though the last few months and have really gotten me thinking of scrapping my 360 for a PS3 just because of the free online.

I can understand where your coming from. I believe last year after Sony did their desperation price drop after only 6 months in the market sales of the PS3 jumped by like 100%+... But then again the PS3 was only selling like 10k a month in N. America so even after it jumped that much it was still be...
So if you put your game into your harddrive do you still have to put the disc in the tray to be able to play it?

This is the beauty of competition! PS3 fans have XBL to thank for Sony stepping up to the plate and offereing a better online service this gen. Xbox fans have Sony to thank for stepping up to the plate which makes MS ante it up some more. The question I have is who will eventually crumble.. Will M$ drop the price for Live or will Sony end up having to charge for PSN to help offset the cost that they have put in for updates, home and such..
So what i'm wondering when M$ brings the server down like this do we get extra days in our subscription?

Oh yeah it was because of that pre rendered trailer that played in E3 05 that Sony said was in game footage which wasn't and was caught lying. Because of that lie Sony had to delay the game numerous of times(it was suppose to be a lauch title for the PS3)and has cost them millions of more in development money to get this game looking like the trailer. You keep mentioning that XBL is more prone to lagg issues but everybody knows that online games are more stable on XBL compared to PSN..
You can kind of blame Sony as well. If they set up PSN like XBL so that they handle all the servers just like M$ does(except w/ EA)the online portion of third party games would be alot smoother just like on XBL. Everybody knew about the online problems on PSN with TP games like COD4,GTA IV and MGS4.. The only downside with that is PSN will become a subscription as well just like XBL.

No MGS IV took a dual layer blu ray disk which has the capacity of 50gb but the game itsel was only 32gb just because of the cut scenes. Gamplay in that game was only like 5 hours and the rest were cut scenes. But we all know Sony and its allies like to blow things up and make their files larger so that they can justify blu ray. There's no PS3 games that wouldn't fit in a single DVD other than MGS 4 just because of its awfully long cut scenes!
Good move by M$ and probably the only way it will sell 100 million consoles just like the Playstation did. We all know that the 100+ million PS1 and PS2 consoles that sold half of those were because owners with bigger consoles upgraded to the slimmer version.. If Sony hadn't come out with the slimmer versions of the PS1 and 2 it would have never sold 100+million.. With this move many original 360 owners would want to upgrade from their bigger version guaranteeing another 20 million consoles s...
