If you're really a "core gamer" then you'd realize quality games come out regardless of age ratings or huge budgets.
Just because you personally aren't open to other games that aren't AAA or "Mature" it doesn't mean they're not worth enjoying.
Really? Horizon? I like the game but let's be real here. If you were expecting something similar to horizon or even breath of the wild you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Game freak usually plays it safe with their Pokemon games.

It is solid, it's funny none of these flaws you really notice when you get immersed in the story at the moment.
There's a lot to consider here. People may not have time or want to invest in a game, but they do enjoy just laughing at a streamer or just being entertained by them in general.
Also have to consider it cost $5 to subscribe to a streamer vs $60 to buy a game, not to mention those people who spend money to donate to the steamer to be able to get their attention or something, also those same people may enjoy the community aspect of streaming, being involved in the streame...
I think there's a sterotype that they do what you listed, but the issue is, most of the well known popular ones do that, so it makes them ALL seem like they do that, i'm sure you can go though the twitch IRL section or any streaming section and see ladies dressed "appropriately" and still getting no views.

Honestly, story wise, I enjoyed it more than Monster Hunter, but it's comparing apples to oranges really.
EA is a fickle company, on one side they make pretty decent games, I hear as an employer they're very progressive, and they have some of the best IP's in the game, but in that same breath they kill off all their companies, they're the first ones to implement some bullshit into their games, and they don't give their devs enough time to make something meaningful.
It's more like, the industry shows how they can milk their consumers for all they've got while the iron is hot, then turn around, take away the scummy features, and get a pat on the pack, when they're the ones who implemented the scummy features in the first place.

Because it can be easily taken advantage of, greedy publishers start making their games longer just to satisfy some value but they don't fill that time with anything meaningful or to respect the player's time.
Also it may screw over gamers and smaller devs who may not have the resources to make some 100+ hour game so they make a quality short or mid length title but people overlook it due to the game not being 100+ hours long with new game + and two expansions.

But the main objective in GTA V isn't to mass murder people, unless you're playing rampage mode, and even then you're going after other criminals more often than not. I play GTA V and mostly avoid civilians, and only take out enemies.
If anything gamers as a whole win, it's not really a competition because Nintendo's not looking to compete, as far as hype goes Nintendo will win, but actual products I give to Sony.
