the environments used appear to be from the unity's basic world builder toolset. nothing impressive here.
it's good that it works. And it shows potential for the future, however I don;'t think we will see this being being implemented on all games anytime soon. The problem is you are subjected to the constraints of latency and throughput on the internet connection you have. Developers can't develop a game with a benchmark for cloud computing as everyone's connection is different, and some don;t have an internet connection at all. While having what you see computed in the cloud has ...
Why talking about e3 when it's gdc this week? Probably because don't has overshadowed them again by releasing details of their vr.
I'm guessing you have done zero research to support this claim...
Last year, it was reported that pc game market had brought in 20 billion dollars for 2012, with expected growth for 2014 and 2015. Diablo 3, on release day, sold 3.5 million copies. On steam, in the last 48 hours, there was a peak of just under 7 million concurrent users. There are many aaa games available through steam available at cheaper prices than their console counterparts. What you will find, in fact, is tha...
fanboys will be fanboys. Seen so many comments regarding how Sony's VR is better. Makes me laugh but also annoyed at the same time as you would hope people with enough invested interest in technology and gaming would be able to look at VR as something great because it will allow us to enter the next level of immersion, not because Sony did it before Microsoft etc etc
its still a valid point though. If Microsoft don't make plans for VR sharpish then there is a big potential for them to be really left behind if VR does in fact take off on the PC and PS4. and if they do rush something to market, in the same way many suspect occured with the xbox one, then there is potential for further negativity to be directed towards Microsoft.
Just seen this too on the Q&A
"How much will the game cost?
The initial Alpha release will cost $14.99."
That is insane! while console AAA games keep getting more expensive, indie games are so cheap!
I feel the same. there are a number of developers now starting to release snipits of how they plan to implement VR into their games, and I think many are really beginning to embrace the oculus rift. For many, the rift represents something we have dreamed about for a long time. combine that with growing access to quality development tools and it is no surprise we are starting to see games such as The Frorest come to be.
I disagree. To run a good looking game in VR it takes some serious horsepower. I honestly don't see the PS4 being up to it. It has to render the image twice. If the AAA games on the system are only just able to run at 1080p on a traditional screen, what do you think will happen once it tries to render these images twice? And in terms of looks, I haven't seen anything on PS4 that looks as good as this game. Remember, this is open world, and it will eat memory up for breakfast in order ...
For those people who said Sony's VR is better than the rift because it has AAA games... you are idiots. This game perfectly demonstrates why the oculus rift will be successful on the PC. On no other platform would a game like this be possible.
@fz6soldier if u wanna use that argument, the average consumer has also not heard of gdc...
Fact of the matter is the rift hasn't been pushed to the consumer yet as it isn't ready. Song'a vr will only be for sony hardware. The rift will be for pc, and thus a much larger and already established user base. Combine that with the number of steam users and the great success of its early access programme, I see no issue at all with people picking this up once the final version i...
shenmue 3 gets me more excited than VR. A lot of younger gamers won't understand this, but those who played shenmue back in the day will.
even console gamers are having to pay the premium costs for their gaming. At the end of the day, it all balances out as while pc gamers pay more for the horsepower, we get cheaper games and access to a much bigger and diverse game library. Console gamers pay less for the hardware, but much more for the software.
completely disagree. the DK1 headset is already selling better than nvidia shield. The oculus Rift is a game changer.
i don;t think this is too expensive when you consider how it will completely change the way you interact with your games. I paid more for my graphics card! The rift will shake things up much more than a shiny new graphics card would.
And i don't think Sony's VR will be any cheaper. The cost of the components will prevent this.
my tv is 800hz :-)
makes a big difference when watching sport and playing games with lots of moving images
not keen on how you can see the floor when wearing the visor. hopefully they will solve this. From other accounts i have read the resolution isn't as good as oculus' device. This is to be expected though, as i suspect the rift is further on in its development.
looks like Oculus are edging it performance wise, so far. But good to see a positive reaction from the first hands on. I am interested to see what developments the guys at oculus have made, as I suspect they are further ahead in the development process, so anything they do is likely to be replicated by Sony and others wanting to wade into the VR pool.
How may secret weapons does the xbox one have? hahaha Seems there is a new article quoting Microsoft's 'secret weapon' for xbox every day. Yet it is still not performing as well as the competition.
outside the premier league it uses tru to life badges and names. the premier league, however, doesn't. I guess the only issue with this game.
