Oh, so you're an attorney that worked on the contract negotiations between Sony and Nintendo?

Thanks for insight.

The Fatal Frame games had their moments but weren't that scary, imho.

The original Silent Hill scared the crap out of me simply b/c I was new to that genre/style of game when I first played it years ago on the PS1.

Silent Hill 2 is another game that freaked me out consistently.

Condemned 1 & 2 are awesomely scary games too, especially in the first whenever you're in the department store and the mannequins...

"BG&E is all about story..."

Really? I mean sure there is a story in BG&E but it's nothing impressive or unprecedented. This is one of those games that has a following that I simply don't understand. No one took notice of the game when it launched then a few gaming rags picked up on it as an "undiscovered gem" and now it's fashionable to cite this "amazing game and storyline" (not your words but similar to others I've seen...

I'm sorry but this is just really hard to take at face value given that it's coming from Peter Molyneux. His past is a colorful composition of truth-stretching and exaggeration and ultimately under-delivering on every project and game he's worked on.

In all likelihood Milo was probably nixed by Microsoft because they realized no one would pay $60 for an unfinished tech demo that had been over-hyped by that zany character that is Peter Molyneux.

Consoles don't need to be bleeding edge and Apple doesn't have sights set on Nintendo or Sony or the XBox. If anything Sony proved last gen that packing too much expensive tech in one box isn't a guaranteed recipe for success. Leave the bleeding edge to PC gamers that are happy to update their rigs frequently (not a knock against them).

Besides, I've yet to see any Apple product approach the "bleeding edge" unless we're talking about price. Apple...

I'm really looking forward to the Vita and it'll be my first ever portable gaming system. However, I'm not buying until 6 months to a year after launch. I've had too many bad experiences with first-gen tech so I'd rather wait a bit and see how things pan out.

Do you feel that's really a fair comparison? Let's be honest here - used game sales and used auto sales have little in common.

For one thing used copies of game tend to creep up days after launching of a new title. Used auto's are usually traded in years after purchase or at the expiration of a lease.

Also different are the margins. While an auto might have several thousands of dollars in mark-up games don't. Even at $60/copy after the retai...

I'll bite and play devil's advocate here.

A lot of the arguments I see center on the "greedy developer" mentality. Or that developers efforts (games) aren't worth full price. While I respect that opinion it's also important to note the consequences of those stances.

Mainly, by buying used you're rewarding used retailers and not the people behind the game. That more or less will result in smaller developers going under. We've...

I'm also a big fan of JRPGs... and that's why I continue to enjoy them on my SNES, PS1 & PS2. There are still quite a few titles in my backlog that I need to play. Many more that slipped under the radar that I'm slowly acquiring.

This gen has had a trickle of quality JRPGs one of my favorites is Eternal Sonata.

My personal thoughts on the matter is that Japanese developers - SE for example - have simply forgotten how to tell a good story. FF...

I downloaded and played the demo... seems like not much of anything is fixed. The same Emo looking characters, terrible music, auto-battle your way to victory that was in XIII is alive and well in XIII-2.

Likely if you enjoyed the original you're going to like XIII-2. If you hated the original there's not much of anything redeeming with the sequel.

I bought the original Killzone for the PS2 shortly before K2 was released in an effort to catch up with the Killzone story. Calling Killzone a "classic" is a stretch by any imagination. The game was forgettable at best and in parts simply terrible.

With the PS2's huge library of great games there are better titles to choose from for a true "classics" addition to the PSN Store.

I can't find the complete review online yet but just from reading the excerpt in the link on this article it's clear that the review felt that more than just the story was lacking. He specifically cites the soundtrack as his least favorite in the entire series.

Not surprising in the least to see Final Fantasy - an RPG - get criticized for the story and specifically the absurdity of it then still get a decent score. I'm afraid that so called professional reviewers only feed SE's impression that flashy graphics, CG sequences and Emo characters are more important than delivering a good story. That of course and everyone that's boo-hooing over the game will still buy it.

Should've never been released in it's current state to begin with. For that matter neither should Fallout 3 (GOTY) or F3: New Vegas which have similar problems.

There is no way that the lag issues never came up during testing of the game on the PS3 so that should tell you a bit about Bethesda.

The entire cast of FFXIII.

Agree with many of the others about Kefka - a truly evil character. Plus FF6 is my favorite game in the series.

I own all 3 consoles so I get the best of each. But this list is terrible. There are what 3-4 Kinect games?! There's better than that on the 360!

While I don't wish Square-Enix any ill will I can't help but feel that they've brought this on themselves by losing focus with what made those companies a success.

Yes I'm an old school gamer that grew up playing the golden era of RPGs from Squaresoft, Enix and other companies I miss the days when anything those companies produced was gold.

Compare to the stuff they're pumping out now and it's no wonder they're sales have plummet...

All else aside I have almost no faith in Square-Enix left. Thus I'm not expecting Vs to be much of a game.

Learned my lesson with Battlefield Bad Company and have avoided the series and most EA games to date that rely largely on online gameplay. Seems that there are always issues that persists for months and years. BFBC had the same VoIP problems that seem to be plaguing BF3 players - at least on the PS3.
