legendaries are useful - they let you use exotics in other slots

I tell you, Sony should totally have a PS Now app made for the Xbox and let the crazy cross-pollination ensue! they should totally put achievements on that sucker too that you get by getting a certain number of trophies while playing or something.

will help, but a ~1.8GHz CPU core or two is not going to make up for the lack of GPU stream processors and ROPs and (easy to use) memory bandwidth. it will help for certain titles with CPU bottlenecks, but almost any PC gamer would tell you that a 6-core AMD processor + better GPU+GDDR5 is better for gaming than an 8-core AMD processor and weaker GPU+DDR3.

it's a start. the fact that this even exists with this kind of library is a milestone moment for the industry and david perry and gaikai have to be incredibly proud.

that said, the demand at $15/month ($160/yr) is probably not much. At closer to $10/month, you might have a lot more people interested, but this is still going to be a bit niche for a while given that the games on offer are all older titles. And I wouldn't be surprised if that was their intention - they w...

arc burn was brutal for this strike. nothing more embarrassing than death by dreg pellets. definitely easier with solar

don't forget the false tease in there about xur selling icebreakers.

less than annual will keep it special I think. but doing E3 and PAX etc annually hasn't hurt those from being well attended every year, so maybe annual is just fine.

it's pretty simplified compared to the likes of a diablo or persona, etc. in terms of gear, etc. i'd have to argue destiny is much more 'casual' in a sense. it's like a casual game that lots and lots of people put hardcore energy into. and none of us disagree about how lacking the game is, and yet there we all are again, back at the tower, kneeling before Xur and the cryptarch

when CoD can charge $15 for a handful of multiplayer maps and get away with it, it's hard for Activision not to ask for $15-20 for not only some multiplayer maps, but whole new missions and gear and a raid. and frankly, this DLC easily added 20-50+ more hours of play for the core player. can't say I'm thrilled it cost money, but also can't complain about it being a rip off.

annoyed perhaps more than pissed. but at the same time, it was kind of nice to not have to be at the mercy of RNGs to get to level 31. i actually find that having access to more light 33 gear gives me more flexibility to mix and match powerup bonuses. it's definitely strange/silly from a design perspective, but at least makes the grind a bit more predictable... the new radiant material issue is more annoying than the store update in my opinion. but at least bungie seems to react fairly qu...

microsoft helped make KI; sony helped make SF. hard to argue against the horse that Sony bet on. we can only dream of a day when MS/Sony/Nintendo co-publish a Disney/Marvel vs. Street Fighter Killer Smash Ultra Hyper Fanboy edition where Akuma shows up and fights off the new triple bladed light saber dude who is getting laughed at by the duck hunt dog.

i was under the impression the next level exotic wasn't going to be literally the same gun, but like some fancy 2.0 version of it, with possibly a different name... this kind of thing is so easy for them to patch (it's about the only thing they've been patching after all), so I'm sure they'll make it all make sense. they don't want us wasting our time in front of caves and running around in chest loop circles it seems, so hopefully they won't force us back into th...

you know, people are freaking out about this too much. let's say you had a maxed out legendary prestige machine gun, and you could trade it to become a brand spankin new super good advice (that you'd still need to upgrade), wouldn't you do it? Or what if you had a maxed out simple legendary auto rifle from the quartermaster, but could trade it for a fresh atheon's epilogue? wouldn't you do it, no questions asked?

i think people are just reacting to the ide...

certain affinity who does all their multiplayer was basically formed from a bunch of the key bungie halo multiplayer designers, too. they basically are like bungie light, minus the logo and jason jones.

kind of agree, but in almost every way destiny ends up being a much tighter, more finely tuned experience than borderlands. at first I was disappointed not to have the borderlands loot madness and weapon variety, but I do like that I've become quite tuned in on the gear that I ultimately rolled with regularly. there is a satisfying trained predictability to things that perhaps was the point. it very much has a skill element to it which I didn't expect. and that people yearn for specif...

you know, i actually don't mind the fresh challenge. it's annoying and will be super challenging on hard, but the raid was starting to lack in the challenge factor. the first few times we raided when we didn't know about the exploit were actually kind of fun back when. definitely sucks from a time-efficiency standpoint, but it's one of the more fun and frenetic bosses in the game

I just hope they incorporate more of the objective variety you see from the VoG into strikes, etc. I don't care if they create content that is hard to access as sort of a carrot on a stick if they at least let the rest of the game be almost as interesting/fun. it would be nice if an 'easy' or level 20 baby-raid existed as well.
