My favourite will always be FF8. I loved the complexity of the Junction system. The GF's gave it a "gotta catch them all" feel before Pokemon was ever a thing. Triple Triad was my first game-within-a-game and it was really fun. Most of all, I loved the characters and the story. The last disc was probably one of the most climatic battles to save the world I've ever played.
FFVIII had a real-time battle system. It was not turn-based. If you let squall stand still and do nothing, the caterchipillars or whatever would keep attacking and beat him to death.
There was an angelo search exploit where if you cast confuse on a turtapod, it would never attack and never break out of the confusion. So you could let your party stand there and do nothing in perfect safety, forever. Rinoa's limit break "Angelo Search" would turn up random items...

This is what would have driven me away from it. Borderlands 1 was lighter on the humour and more focused on shooting and looting. Borderlands 2 went way over the top with the juvenile humour, sex jokes, and cringe-worthy stupidity. The direction they've taken Borderlands would make me not want to play anything like it.
I have this and always wanted to play it with someone. But the game is harsh and will utterly destroy you at least several times during the course of a game and my brother refused to play it with me. Same with all my friends. They would try it once or twice, decide it sucks, and then never play it with me again.
I would get aggravated when I would lose too, but I could roll with it better than the others. The others would just give up.

I agree with their synopsis of it. If they had sold it as a $20 or $30 early access game, they would have avoided like 90% of the criticism. There's no excuse for releasing what they did as a $60 console game.
I didn't know they shut down Lionshead. I loved Black and White, sunk hundreds of hours into that when I was a teenager. I wonder what will happen to the IP now? Will GOG be able to re-release it? Will there ever be a Black and White 3? There's still nothing quite like it.
Also Microsoft only knows how to shut down good game IP's. They did it with Freelancer, now they've done it again with Black and White. Next they will shut down Halo just to spite the Mast...

I would buy XV if it comes to PC. I have no plans to get an Xbox One or Ps4. I've heard rumors it might come to Steam, but we will see.

Have both a Zelda and Mario at launch. This should be a no-brainer. They want the Switch to be more successful right? Well every Nintendo console I've ever owned, I had at least 1 Zelda and Mario title on each one, if not several. It's not their consoles that sell their consoles, it's their games. Push them out.
Probably for the same reason a lot of PSU's don't come with power cables anymore, or that printers don't come with USB cables. Portables are probably a lot more popular over there and everyone is swimming in power adapters, so the manufacturers think it's wasteful to keep bundling them along with the newest latest thing. At least, that would be my guess.
